Most affordable 19" track tire? Any group buys?

Hi...I read alot of older threads on tire options along with wheel sizes (some going to 18's for example). Just looking to see if there is any current info on best 19's for track use, while keeping affordability in mind.

I recently picked up a 2019 ZL1 1LE as a dedicated track day toy and plan to keep it stock. The EF1R's are performing well but just curious to learn if members found more affordable options then simply buying off TireRack for example. Any group buys that I'm not aware of?

Are members moving away for EF1R's to Cup 2's for example?
(Or other brands?)

Thanks for any insight.

PSC2 in our stock sizes are much more expensive full retail than F1S3R, ~$500/tire. I find some good deals on older stock PSC2 on Ebay, as low as $200/tire. But they only have 305/30/19 and 315/30/19. No 325/30/19, so you have to get 2 of those at full price.

There are many slightly used PSC2s on Ebay in GT3RS sizes. Looks like the Porsche track guys toss their tires after a single track day with 75%+ tread remaining.

Another option is non-DOT Pirelli DH slick take-offs from places like http://gttrackdays.com/.

They have 305/705/19 and 325/705/19 which might be a tight fit diameter-wise. Haven't tried this yet, they're pretty cheap at $500 a set.

Thanks for the input. Was on the phone with Pirelli today in fact. They shared the 305/690/19 would work but the 325/705/19 would be to tall. (Apparently that tire is specific to the Ferrari.)

I'll keep my eyes open for ebay deals...clearly no "secret" wholesale deal somewhere that I was hoping for.

my local goodyear gave me some good pricing on stock tires. I don't have the print out with me but I can take a look when I get home and pass it along. Maybe they would drop ship them to other people?? not sure. I have a ZLE

If you or someone you know has a USAA account you can get a set of the OEM tire delivered and installed for about 1150 a set. Thats what I do.

In my opinion that would be a downgrade. Driven on both tires in a back to back session. The Eagle F1 Supercar 3R is definitely a better tire on track.

Interesting...Do you mean a USAA bank acct? Or can any USAA member receive that type of pricing?

Also, are you ordering thru a local tire dealer and giving them the USAA info or calling Goodyear direct?

Sorry for all the questions, just looking for clarification. Thx again.

UPDATED: Never mind, I found out the process on a previous post. Good info!

Good to know...I'll stick with the EF1's then. Also saw your brake line post. May have to get a set eventually. I'm clearly not at the pace you guys are, as my stock brake set up feels fairly good so far.

Only had the car for about 2 weeks though, 2 half day track events...just sorting her out still. Will continue to push her.

The tires are fast to the cords so dont be afraid to use them to the end.

The F1S3R is a great tire for this car, it's clear it was designed for the ZLE and handles the weight in a way that's amazing. But they don't last very long, they come with very shallow tread depth vs. PSC2 so if you're road tripping (no trailer) to a track 300+ miles away, they aren't a good option. Especially with any chance of rain.

I was able to find 1/2 price sticker PSC2s in 305f/315r that I used for a trip from LA to Laguna Seca, I needed them to last 2 track days and additional miles to SF and back.

I'm getting some new 345 PSC2s and I'll pair these with the 315s in front. I'll report back how that combo works, that's a lot of rubber.

Got it. I'm in AZ and recently joined APEX Motor Club, luckily only 20 miles from my house. I'll use a trailer for tracks further away.

Would love to hear your experience after Laguna. I also have a track bike and hit Laguna several times! Luv that place!

I'm not much of a road tripper, so I don't take those factors into consideration, since I specifically mentioned the F1S3R is a better "track" tire.

I've got caught in Miami's infamous torrential downpours once and the stock tires even at full tread depth is sketchy to drive on.

My biggest complaint about the PSC2's are that, they are only good for 10-15 fast laps when they are brand new. After those laps, you will never get as much grip from the tires again. The F1S3R is almost as sticky down to the cords. At least this is what I observed.

Both F1S3R and PSC2's are great for being predictable and don't suffer from getting greasy when they start getting a bit too hot.

As others have said, the 3R grips well but does cord very quickly. I am running Nitto NT-01r and have gotten double the sessions of the 3R and still have yet to cord them. The NT-01 also wears far more evenly than the 3R. They may cost 50-100 more a tire but they easily have twice the rubber.
