buying used

so I'm trying to make the switch from my 2018 ss 1le to a zl1 1le. unfortunately I can't swing a new one so I'm looking used. should there be any concerns, I found one that should be well within my range but it has almost 10k on it which isn't ideal since my car only has 1400 miles on it but its probably the only way I can get into one.

What I found is there aren't really any "deals" to be had on the used Zs. There's few enough of them they are holding their value and dealers seem to know that and price accordingly. Be absolutely sure to run the Carfax or equivalent---the lower priced cars almost all had been in accidents when I was looking.

While I don't think 10,000 is a ton of miles for a used car consider the age of the car. For a 2017 that's 5k a year but for a 2018 that's basically a daily driver. I don't have a problem if you daily drive your ZL1 but I would not want to buy it from you if you did.

In the end I found a 3400 mile car and it is basically brand new but I also ended up paying several k more than the amount I set when I started looking. The other option is for you to wait and let depreciation bring prices down on more cars.

I guess the mileage is just strange to me cause I always have one nice car I only take out when I feel like driving. and the car I found is a 2018 like mine. depending when it was bought then yes is could have been a daily driver

I got 20k off my 17 by buying used. I spent $1300 on a 5 year extended warranty from GM for piece of mind. I think the car has plenty of power as is and only put a intake/tb and looking for a secondary cat delete..so nothing crazy if a warranty item does come up.

FYI... the OP said ZL1 1LE. They didn't make that in 2017, only the regular ZL1.

The ZL1 1LE was released in 2018.

I would keep looking Tyler! That is a lot of miles but not too excessive unless you just have to have this one in your driveway. You could do a carfax report search or if a dealer is selling let them search the vin number to check the history of the car. How is the overall condition of the car? Tires need replacing, etc. The lower mileage used ZL1 1LEs are out there but not as many as used ZL1s and you should be able to find one with lower mileage I would think. For example, I bought my used 2017 ZL1 back in March that only had 422 miles so it was like a new 2 year old car for a good price! Guess I got lucky on that deal. Anyhow, do more research, get some more opinions on this forum and then decide if this one is the one you want to buy. Good luck!

iv been looking for a couple weeks I see a bunch of used zl1s but the 1le are hard to come by it seems. even harder to get a dealer to work a deal for one. looking at what's provided the car im looking at has no accident history and has one owner. pics look good but I haven't seen it in person because I'm over 5 hours away and want to see if we can reach a deal before I make the trip

I searched a 200 mile radius of Raleigh, NC and this is the cheapest ZL1 1LE that I could find: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ckType=listing

However, there is a new one for $62k. You might want to check that out as well.

Not sure how far away you are, but this is only $3k more than I paid for my regular 2018 ZL1 a year and a half ago...

And your 2018 is basically still a new car with only 1400 miles! Have you considered buying a ZL1 instead of the track version 1LE? The ZL1 has a lot of features that your SS 1LE has but doesn’t have the appearance of the ZL1 1LE and they are easier to find on the used market.

Greg makes a good point. The normal ZL1 has magnetic shocks like your current 1LE. The ZLE has the spool valve ones which are stiffer than sport mode on the regular ZL1.
