2019 Camaro SS Display promting "New Update"

Just wondering if anyone has any idea what they are trying to update with this? It prompted today, and now when I open my door after shutting the car off, the car remains on for approximately 1 minute (not running, just the radio, ect. that would normally shut off when the door is opened). It says it will take 10 minutes to run the update, but before doing it, I wanted to know what it was updating and, well, I didn't have 10 minutes to run it as I was back from lunch at work. I appreciate any feedback you can provide!

No worries, I wanted to start here. I'm sure the dealer will say, "It's just a software update. Go ahead and update it." with no real answer to what it is updating. *this is my assumption and I will let you all know if I come across more information for sure. I appreciate the response!

Many of our cars do and did this shortly after purchase.

Mine did. It was and has been fine in the 2yrs since.

It's normal.

Gunkk - What is being updated? I couldn't find anywhere about it online, and I had a 16 for 3 years that needed no update.

Glen e -That's what I was wondering.

Glen e - I heard the OTA for the C8 that drew a lot of concern from those that will be modifying them and didn't want it to affect the tune. Mine is stock, and I will be running it regardless. But my curiosity was, if it isn't the OTA, what is being updated? I am most curious due to the "Vehicle Update" terminology. It doesn't say software update

All 2019+ Camaros have Over The Air updates for the new infotainment system.
This is probably an update to that. I’ve done a few in the past and it seems to be just bug fixes.

I am not sure if OTA includes more than just the infotainment module or if it can actually update the ECU or other critical components.

It's an over the air update via the Mylink and it's normal on 2019 and 2020. Now, updates are done over the air instead of having to bring them in to the dealership for routine updates.

How can I get an OTA Update on my 17'? I want Windows 10 also like the 2019s.

You can get it by trading it in on a 2019.

I believe that somewhere in the settings you can instruct it to do this in the background so you don't even know it's happening.
