A/c compressor won’t engage

What are the conditions that would keep the ac compressor from engaging? I have checked fuse #1 in the fuse box, and have unplugged the compressor to check signal. I assume I should see 12 volts at the plug that connects to the compressor, and there is no voltage there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks in advance.

Low Freon. It won't engage under a certain pressure. Have you checked it? The all in one cans will give you a reading without charging..

Low freon or a bad pressure switch won't allow the clutch to engage

Low R134, bad pressure switch, bad magnet clutch, bad relay, bad HVAC control..... there are MANY reasons why it wouldn't engage.

EDIT: if you checked the plug, that eliminates the magnet clutch.

!st thing to check is the pressure at the low side port. Its the larger line located near the firewall on the drivers side. Attach a gauge without the engine running and you should see some where around 75psi. If you do have that then start the system and watch the gauge. The comp maybe turning on quickly then shutting off, that would indicate low system charge. If the comp doesn't come on and you have 75psi on the low side it could be many other things. Probably time to see a pro unless you want to toss parts at it. Good Luck

Look here for port location https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=375088
