Shift to Park problem

With increasing frequency I park the car as usual and then it says "Shift to Park" even though the car is in park. To make it go away I need to start it back up and shift back to drive and park.

Car is out of bumper to bumper and I'm guessing this wouldn't be classified as a powertrain issue. Video below. If somebody has got this resolved I'm curious what the fix/cost was.

Disappointing thing to break, and in warranty I had a TC change and plugs go out, all on a car that is less than 3 years old.

I had the same "shift to park" problem. The dealer had to replace the shifter mechanism. No way to replace or adjust the sensor only.

The Malibu's have this problem all across the board. Maybe all Chevy's start to develop it.

Im having this same issue with my 18 SS. My shifter is being replaced by an up dated shifter to remedy this problem. Mine is under warranty.

This is an issue with Camaro's, Malibu's, SRX's....the list goes on...Some can be repaired by replacing a jumper harness below the shifter (my wife's Acadia,) but most will eventually need a shifter. Most times you can give the shifter a smack or two after you shift into park before turning the car off and it may not give you an issue.

My 2017 Camaro RS has the same problem. When I shift to park and turn off the car, “shift to park” message came up. I have to wiggle the shaft many times. Sometimes works but sometimes not. I have to restart many times. I need to take to the dealer to fix it. Hope it will be covered by mfg warranty.

Had the same prob and just got it fixed. I am under the 60k PT warranty but this assembly IS NOT covered. This is not a wide spread problem but it is a known and occurs in other Chevy vehicles with this same module.
First got a quote of over $400. Then I simply asked the advisor to "do me a favor" and contact Chevy Regional so I don't have to go thru Customer Care and see what they'll do. Don't have a hissy fit. I also told him that I've been on the Camaro forum for years and the problem was mentioned. He admitted that he had seen the prob in a Traverse but never a Camaro. But this is just one guy! He called me the next day and said that Chevy asked me to pay $150 and I took the deal. I could have pushed for $0 but I didn't.
Send a PM if you want details like contact info and so on.

Does your dials goes into start up animation, like the car actually started but not?
Did you fix the problem?

Thanks

Our 2018 Traverse, same issue. Dealer replaced the switch in the shifter, it is a known issue, currently a class action suit being threatened over this. Camaro is manual, so no worry there!
