Did the 2019 rear view camera mirror fix rear blindspots?

Now the 2019's have been out for a bit, is the new rear view camera mirror the best thing since sliced bread? Does it fix the rear blindspots for those that find it a problem? Thinking about whether to go with an '18 or if the camera mirror is the best thing ever I'll go '19.

It helps but it won't eliminate all blind spots.

No.

I test drove a car with it (2SS) and a car without (1LE)
Busy San Diego FWY.
I don't own a Camaro so I have maybe 30 minutes drive time.
All of my lane changes were made with the side view mirrors.
I don't recall even looking straight behind me while driving.

The salesman showed me how it works as far as wide view adjust ability ect

From your comments, "best thing since sliced bread" and "best thing ever", you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Nothing is going to solve all the blind spots that the Camaro has.

But, the rear camera in conjunction with the blind spot monitoring in the 2SS, does make a big difference in safely changing lanes. After driving my wifes 2019 Traverse Redline with the camera, I knew I wanted it on my Camaro.

Plus, it's just cool as hell to see your buddies reaction when they sit in your car and notice it.

I'm really not a fan of it but each to his own. I would definitely take a drive with it too see if you like it or not.

I left a lengthy post about the reasons I don't like it here...

I'm personally not the biggest fan of the camera. Takes a little to get used to since the focal point you're looking at is now a lot closer than it'd be with a normal mirror and is quite a bit different than how far out you're focusing when looking forward (i.e. takes your eyes a little more time to adjust to what's on the screen). Don't shy away from a 19 just because of that though, the "dimmer switch" on those mirrors turn the camera off so it can work just like a regular mirror.

As for blind spots, proper setup of sideview mirrors is key no matter which rearview you have. You can easily get it so that there's virtually no blindspots in adjacent lanes by using mirrors only, with the exception of maybe a motorcycle riding right on one of your rear corners.

I have no blind spots. With the side mirrors angled OUTWARDS so I dont see the main body of my car, I can see everything when I need to.

This and a blip of the throttle to make sure nobody is beside you.

I like using it with the top up and during the day (only).

I have a 1ss and changing lanes really isn’t a problem. Dicey situations for me have been pulling out of a parking lot and turning left—hard to see traffic coming from your right. Also curbs are a little hard to see. Backing up used to be a little tricky but not any more. Cross traffics alerts when backing up might come in handy

I really like it. I don't understand why folks say it doesn't eliminate the blind spots but I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. I only use it when the top is up because when the top is down the blind spots go away. On the Hot Rod Power Tour 2 other people drove my 2019 and both agreed the rear view camera is the way to go.

Too many folks just want to bad mouth the 2019 if you ask me. I guess if I had an older version I'd want it to stay new too but every year things change, it's just reality.

Learn how to adjust your mirrors and drive the car instead of relying on tech to do everything for you.
