Octane Booster - Moving from 91 to 93+ for track?

I did some research on Octane Booster and our local stores have Royal Purple that will increase Octane by 3 AKI.

Around the track I go to... there's only 91 Octane. I know our cars run best at 93+. So my only option is to get some Octane booster.

Before I do that... Has anyone tested the difference of going from 91 to 93 on a dyno? How much power am I leave on the table?

You dont have race gas, 100 oct unleaded? 91 is also the standard street gas at tracks here in CA, but we also have 100 unleaded race gas and 110 leaded.

Do Canadian tracks not have race gas? If so that's surprising because many real race cars run on race gas only, for professional events etc

If you have 100 unleaded, mix that to get 93+ before you use any boosters. Boosters are not a good option IMO.

I usually just mix in some race fuel in to bump the octane up. I think thats probably better than using an octane booster

Go to the Sunoco website, they have some good info on octane, octane formulas/calculators, etc. and you can look for a performance shop that deals in Sunoco products.

Make sure what ever additive you use to boost octane is safe for your catalytic converters.

We no longer have Sunoco in Ontario.
But Petro Canada has 94 octane now. There is an app for it that shows the locations.

This.

4.25 gallons of 100 octane and a top off with 91 raises the average R+M/2 octane level to 93. Though I have never dyno'd the car before and after, the butt dyno says the car pulls harder.

for sure.. and if you could maybe reduce the chance of any detonation or something, then it should be a win win

A lot of mixed opinions on this here. Over on the mopar forum the Hellcat and Demon guys tend to use it. I’ve spoken with Ian the owner via email and it seems pretty legit. The guys at VMP use it on a lot of their supercharged mustang builds. I thinking it works. Mix according to their ratio, so about 4oz to a full tank should raise a couple of octane number, like 91-94 not in points (91-91.4).

I'm just wondering how much extra power I would get as our cars are designed for 93, not 91. And I wanted to know how much I'm losing.

Not sure but it may not be much. Maybe around 10-15hp or possibly 20 due to timing being pulled to keep from detonation. Heat is also a big factor so if you are driving in a cool day the car may not notice a single change in power.
