Anyone tried Cutting the Bottum off the Stock CAI?

Rumors are its good for about 10 or 12 hp with a drop in K&N filter. Anyone done it yet and is it true?

you mean turn it into a WAI? wouldn't that let heated engine compartment air in? I ask because my SS is sitting under a cover and it is snowing out.

Yea that doesent sound right, you want your air box to be completely sealed on the bottom so the only air that’s coming is cool from the grill and good vents

after the re-tune, why don't we see them put the stock cut box back in and see how much HP it loses? Just asking....

I've done it.

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=541269

Can't say I felt much difference in performance. No dyno pulls to compare. Check out post #13 in the thread I posted above. The bottomless stock box did perform as well or slightly better on the dyno than some 3rd party intakes.

Of course, having a supercharger I did hear more whine with the cut box.

IATs sitting at a traffic light will definitely be a few dregrees higher with a cut box. However, as soon as the car starts moving they quickly return to 1-3 degrees above ambient while cruising.
