Normal operating Temperature

I don`t seem to be able to find what a 2016 SS operating temperature should be. Cars and trucks have been most efficient at 210 degrees for alot of years but my Camaro doesn`t run anywhere near that. Maybe 150 degrees. Anyone know for sure. The car is an A8.

Are you the original owner? If not someone may have put in a cooler thermostat.

I am not the original owner, so I guess my question should be what temp should it run from the factory?

190-215. It’s easy to get to the thermostat and see what’s in there

I found a post from 3/2017 that talked quite a bit about what we have here, so I went ahead and pulled the thermostat out. Not a big deal like you said. There looks like some numbering on the end of the stat bulb but not very readable at all. Anybody have a way to tell for sure what degree it is?

You could put it in a pot of water and slowly bring it to a boil with a thermometer in the water. Read the temp when it opens.

Went to my local Chevy dealer this morning and found out that the stat from the factory is a 194 degree. Going to compare the dash gauge to the digital read out in the DIC and see what the comparison is.

Thanks for the help. I guess that is where I am according to the dash gauge. Isn`t there a digital gauge in the DIC? If there is I have n`t been able to access it. Is there a trick?

I didn’t think so, if you don’t have a scanner get a WiFi obd2 scanner off amazon for $20 and use a free app on your phone to get the readout.

Or I heard GM stock replacements are $15. Not sure
