Rev Match How To?

Sorry if this was covered somewhere else, but when I did a search there was a bunch of threads, which speaks briefly about rev matching.

Now I'm use to heel/toe, but it seems this is not necessary with the Rev Match...is this correct?

Also, I see (in pics) there are paddles for the Rev match, so how does this work, do you pull the the paddle prior to shifting, or do you pull it once and it turns on Rev Match?

Is the accelerator response quick enough to do a heel toe and not use those paddles?

Sorry for all the questions, but Saturday seems like it's taking forever!!
I know I need to just jump on the horse and ride, but my brain is wanting to know before I start riding...hehehe!

You activate the Rev Match by pulling on a paddle once and the feature stays on until you deactivate it by pulling on a paddle again.

Pull The Paddle Once To Activate Rev match. Enjoy. Ported throttle body helps response.

In the instrument cluster there's a display that shows what gear you have selected, and normally it's a white digit 1 through 6, or R for reverse. When you engage rev match, that gear number display turns a shade of yellow/orange to let you know the rev match function is active.

When the car is started the feature is defaulted off, you have to flip either paddle to activate the system.
It's either on or off.
You don't have to click it every shift.

It works on up shifts and down shifts.

Thanks Boost!
Good info to know about both up and down.

How do you rev match an up shift? AFAIK it only does anything on downshifts

I have never experienced rev match with an upshift, it just blips the the throttle when I downshift to stop the surging/jerking that occurs without it, making the downshift more smooth and annoying anyone around me when my Borla ATAKs scream out "AMERICA"

On my wife’s ‘19 you get more pops and crackles if you manually blip the throttle versus using rev matching.

Try this. Run up the rpm's in first, clutch in and let the engine come back down in rpm, select second and watch the rpm's match for that gear.

I discovered this while driving normal, found that if I applied throttle during a rev match up shift it was jerky, unlike a normal up shift. If the rev match is on you have to be off the throttle while shifting for a smooth up shift.

if you let the RPM fall below the RPM for the next gear, its not really any different from a rev match downshift, since that is essentially what you are doing. In normal driving that shouldn't happen because you are accelerating.

However I do not see why you would be pressing the throttle while changing gears (unless you are talking about no lift shifting, which is a whole other ball game)

accidently hitting on track and turning it off sucks lol wish it was a button instead of a paddle shifter style

If I'm slow to let the clutch out on an upshift and have rev match on, I feel like it'll hold the RPM for a half second or more. Makes me think it is more of an actual rev match than a throttle blip.

For example
2nd gear, up to 5k, let off throttle, clutch in, shift to 3rd, hold clutch in, rpms drop to about 3K and hold for a count or two. let clutch out and enjoy smooth engagement. back on throttle and check rear view mirror for mustang in the dust. :-P

I get good throttle blips when in rev match mode on, take it out of gear and tap shifter all the way to teh left in neutral gate twice. I do this when coming up to a red light or whatever, it gives a nice double blip most of the time.
