Basic Start Bolt-On's

Hey everyone,

I was thinking during this upcoming summer of finally adding headers and E85. I was looking at TSP 1 7/8th headers but not sure which E85 kit to go with. I have an E85 station maybe 10 miles from my house. Also does anyone know good shops in the south jersey area that won't charge like crazy to install and tune? What kind of power could I be looking at with this? Car currently has CAI intake and MBRP axle back with stock mid pipe which I am thinking about adding as well since I can tune the AFM out. Thanks again!

Hell yeah, I wonder if I just do the install myself for the headers and buy the flex kit and see how to install if someone would just tune it? Might save some money while making power gains

Yeah I’ve been watching videos and know some people that have it, I was looking into TSP 1 7/8th but NJ is one of those crazy states that looks for Cats so I’ll have to but the catted ones. I have a family member that owns a garage and all the tools I need just need to see if I can use the space and try it myself

Look up EFX tuning in South Jersey. They can get you dialed in and/or also do the header/e85 install too.

I was looking at the prices, I was assuming it includes the parts but wonder if they would do just the tune if I did the install myself. Anyone have a guess how much remote tuning vs store tuning would be? This is the first car I am doing these kind of mods on. I had a V6 '13 1LT but couldn't do much to it besides axle back and CAI, so kind of a beginner to digging deeper into mod territory. Thanks everyone for the help!

SMG Speed has a package that sells their E85 kit, headers and Rotofab for around $1200 so if you don't need the CAI it would prpbably be $800ish for it.

Remote tuning will come up more expensive only because you have to buy the tuning items (wideband, HP tuner, credits) + pay the tuner (in some cases add dyno time to that).

HOWEVER, you're paying someone that does this probably on a daily basis vs someone who did a few camaros here and there.... at the end of the day choosing a tuner is with whomever you feel comfortable with.

My advise is talk, ask questions and see where you feel best... that's what led me to PRAY... there are local tuners in my area that are very good but i simply went with pray because of proven and consistent results + his involvement in the camaro community and constantly pushing the envelope to get the car to the best results.

I didn't realize they did a package on them might need to reach out. Also sorry for the noob questions but if i were to get it remote tuned if i did all the installation myself, what would i need? HPTuners with 2 credits to have a tune for 93 and E85? Also i see I would need a wide band to attach to get readings to send out for the remote tuning if that's correct? I'm trying to make google my best friend in this but want to make sure I am getting all the right things. Thanks again everyone!

Yes that is basically how it works. SMG Speed also sells a package for Pray tuning that gives you the wideband and the HPTuners module and 2 credits. Just contact them and talk to Dalton.

ECS superchargers is up near trenton. Huge in the corvette world, but they also do camaro’s. Same stuff anyway.

Pro-tip - use someone active in forums. Shitty companies don’t last long at all on the forums since there is so much communication between clients. Good companies thrive. Pray and ecs are mostly forum shops.

the 17 Camaro requires 4 credits to tune the ECU. The 16 only required 2. 2 credits to tune the transmission Plus you have to send the transmission computer to HP to get it unlocked. and 1 credit to tune the fuel pump computer. if you have a manual you will just need the 4 credits. with just E85 and headers I dont believe you have to worry about the fuel pump module. With the LT1 you need someone who knows what they are doing. its a whole different animal. Its best and cheapest to get it tuned on a dyno. You need to have a GM performance shop do it. Id highly recommend you take it to Complete Street Performance in PA. $800 for the 93/E85 tune. https://www.cspracing.com/. The E85 kit is easy. the headers can be a pain in the ass. I had to remove the pass side motor mount but read and asked that you dont have to with TSP. Call CSP they sell it all can install it all and maybe do a package deal.
