Information on 56R wheels

Hello everyone,

I don't truly know a good location to put this but i want to inform new buyers about this since i was miss informed/ had not done enough research and don't want others to walk into the same situation as i did.

First off to state: this is to not put any blame or point any fingers at Chevy or GM for this miss information as that is not what i mean/ meant so forth upon further writing.

With that said when i was purchasing my vehicle to be built i was purchasing the wheels on the left side (code: 56R). To me because i am color blind in a way these looks like dark grey (almost blackish) wheels with silver trimming. https://prnt.sc/m863ky

When my vehicle was delivered to my dealership this is the image he sent: https://prnt.sc/m865vz
which to me looks like the tires on the right in the first picture... ill let you be the judge on that...

After doing further research with my dealer the car does have the right part (wheels) on. I do want to inform other purchasers that no its not how it looks from the Chevy website and that the part actually looks lighter.

Here are some websites as well so that you can see further on this:

https://www.lithiachevroletredding.c...-CA/3297700103

https://www.redriverchevy.com/Vehicl...-LA/3338567443

https://www.landerschevroletnorman.c...20483a67c7.htm

I hope this helps some other users out.

Respectfully,

Silentlegion

P.S i tried to get them as images but for some reason they are not pulling up with the scripting.

All the examples listed beneath your first link show the 56W wheels. The 56R look similar to the Hot Wheels edition wheels.

I understand that you're saying there could be confusion in the picture GM provides, but in real life the 56W is a bright silver, and the 56R is a very dark satin black.

I know this because my 2019 has had both sets of wheels.

Your 2nd picture actually shows the 57S wheels, not 56R that the OP is talking about. Reference this link, which has all the camaro wheel options (57S is in the accessory section): https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=525673

The '16-'18 brochure and "build and price" site had a similar discrepancy on the gray painted machined face wheels, where they looked much darker than the actual wheel looks in real life. I personally didn't care for the way they looked in the brochure and love the way they look in person. I agree that the promo pics are misleading.

I ordered the "old" 56R wheels for my 2018 2SS, and while there definitely is a discrepancy between screen images and the physical wheels, ie Chevy did embellish the contrast (boo), in reality there is also a visible difference between the shiny silver ones ("old" 56W) and mine.

Although the visibility depends on the angle and lighting, the outer edges are a dead giveaway, one can easily tell the different shades of gray apart, just look at my avatar. I assume the same paint colors are used for the 2019 versions of 56R and 56W.

OP, does your window sticker indicate the wheels you ordered and you see on your order workbench printout? If yes and you think they gave you 56W's instead, you have a case to make with the dealer.

That's really interesting, I had no clue there was three versions of the 5 Split Spoke style wheel for 2019.

Thank you for clarifying!

Referring to the 3 different (but same) types of wheels: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=525673

on page 21 you have 56R and 56W and on page 30 you have 57S.

I choose 56R because i wanted something dark with a little pop on the car because the look for the car theme is red and black so 56W would not work with my plan. Also i did not want to pay an extra 2000 dollars for black wheels when say i could just plasta dip the wheels and call it a day or even a possibility of wheel vinyl wrap but ill need to do more research on that since i know much on that.

I got the 56R wheels because I thought they would look good with the silver car. I think it works.
