who is going to run 8's next year?
cause I am! those of you running 8's all ready what is your new goal and what are you doing to improve your all ready great et?
for me #1 is to get to a 1/4 mile track more often and work through any issues. I am spending the winter on smaller refinements which should make the car more consistent and easier to dial in. my winter list drop about 140 more lbs, 36xx race weight with driver better boost control, full range speed based dome boost control line lock for more consistent burn outs megasquirt controlled timing so timing stays where I command it 2 step valve spring shims so I can spin it to a proper rpm alignment, never got one done after adding bmr stuff moon boost

I want to but, just not going to make it next year. I'm pretty sure Jon will make it and be the first 2300 in the 8's

I don’t know of any issues but the first large bore pumps were not compatible with a +32% fuel pump lobe. I am pretty sure the newer pumps can not only handle the 32% lobe but will go even bigger.

After chatting with several shops we were informed it wasn’t worth the investment. I will leave it at that.
My new cam will have a +38% fuel lobe as well. Current one had +32%

Same here... I knew the gen 1 style pumps could only handle a 6.5mm lobe(Stock LT4 cam is 5.99) and the gen 2 can handle a 7.85mm or perhaps even larger lobe. Be curious to know what 7.85mm equates to in percentage.

I wasnt the one hearing it first hand. Shop called some other people after I commented that I might want to add that component. We were told it wasnt worth the money (being nice). If I get some more concrete details I will let everyone know.

I ran the gen 1 pump for a year with no issues. the cost vs benefit is for each person to calculate and all this stuff is pricy. it sounds like someone had more of an issue with one than the cost. I am also curious.

Think it had more to do with actual fuel volume increase.
We will see.

Thanks! I know one shop was able to net another 60whp over the LT4 on a stock fuel lobe. So perhaps it's advantages only show when not using a bigger fuel lobe cam being the LT4 can potentially handle a bigger fuel lobe which negates any advantages the LPE pump had? It's really hard to judge when LPE rates the gen 2 compatible with 7.85mm fuel lobe and the rest of the industry rates the fuel lobe in percentage.
