M6 Bogging/Stalling - Mamo TB Improvement

I've posted a couple of times about the annoying off idle bogging and stalling on my '18 M6. The dealership even acknowledged that it's not right. However, after a day of diagnoses and troubleshooting guidance from GM, they couldn't find any actionable repair.

I'm happy to say that simply installing a Tony Mamo ported throttle body has all but cured the problem. If on a scale of 1-10, if my car was a 5 because of this and a perfect fix would have been a 10, I'd say that with the new throttle body my car is now a solid 9.

So, for guys that are not happy with the off idle performance of their M6 cars, try a ported throttle body. The improvement on my car was very noticeable.

What size? And did you tune to it or just simply install it?

It just mind numbing that these MT cars were deemed okay for delivery with this issue.

To most of us who don’t drag race our track car, it’s a non issue and peace of mind knowing the computer is preventing the LT4 from destroying the driveline and rear end.

What the OP describes is normal day to day driving. Not launching at the track.

I will confirm this is fixed with the 2019's

Glad to hear the TM TB is working well for you. When I test drove the 6 speed manual, I felt like the throttle response was somewhat lacking. There is also some hesitation with the 10 speed auto, which I feel can be cleaned up with a proper tune. However, my TM TB did help some.

So the "fix" the is claimed for the 19's has to be software? I ask because it does not appear any hardware has been changed from 18' to 19'?

Good to know.... have you had any type of idle "hunting" with the RPMs?

To answer some of the questions:

I believe the Mamo TB is a stock, ported GM TB. I did not tune anything, only bolted it on. I also retained the stock airbox.

My driving experience is 100% street, daily, everyday driving. I have not taken the car to the track.

The car idles perfectly, no hunting or variance of idle speed.

I still remain convinced that this is a calibration issue and that GM ought to have a simple reflash fix for it. Every other GM I've owned with a manual transmission was calibrated perfectly. So, yeah, I wish GM would step up.

In the meantime, and lacking GM's help, the ported TB was a noticeable improvement in the drivability of my '18 M6.

These clowns at GM have a software fix for this throttle bog and they won't help out those of us that dropped 60K + on their car ?!?!?!

I think this will be the last GM car I buy. If they even survive their current situation.

Ridiculous !!!

Never drag raced my car, we're talking about normal everyday pullouts from a dead stop.

GM simply screwed the pooch on this...hardly a non issue.

Wow, you guys make it sound like the manual is extremely difficult to drive because of the so-called bog issue, this is way over exaggerated, in my opinion. Sure if your drag racing the ECU is limiting torque to protect the drivetrain, yep this sux, but quite honestly this isn't a drag car, is it a triple threat, as they say, so to speak, yes, but the bog issue for daily or track driving doesn't exist for me what so ever. If you want to drag race buy the auto get a tune or buy a hellcat. Sorry for the rant but tired of hearing this ridiculous BS

Glad you got this off your chest

All in all, I think everyone knows that these are fantastic cars, and I think a lot people will look for ways to improve and sometimes even complain about a fantastic platform.
