Onstar “basic” package

When I bought my 2017 in Nov 2016 Chevy had the deal where the basic Onstar functions were active for 5 years (keyless entry, send nav destination to in dash unit, etc). Sadly hurricane Harvey sent that one swimming last year.

I bought a 2018 last month. I can’t find information about whether that basic plan still works for 5 years or if Chevy dropped it.

I’ve done a little googling, but the results I get seem out of date. Do you guys know?

The same 5-year, automatically activated basic plan was still included in March, see screenshot below. You can check your coverage if you log on to my.chevrolet.com.

The package has changed. The ability to start or unlock your car with the chevy app is gone, it costs $14.99 or somewhere around there. You'll get it for the trial period, then you have to pay. This started this past spring sometime on new cars.

I have the best onstar service on all my gm cars, offstar! I unplug the sob bc I hate the idea of being tracked especially as much as I hit up "mexico" for fun runs. No onstar for me js

Wow you’re right. Just checked and it expired today. Super chinchy of GM to do that. 14.99/mo for door lock/unlock? Hahahahahaha no thanks. Guess I’ll just delete the app.

May do that. Is there an easy way?

Yes, under the passenger side dash above the foot area there is a plastic cover. Remove it and the on Star box is there you can unplug it or unplug the antenna. You will lose navigation and Bluetooth but that does not bother me, I just don't like being tracked. This is the fix
