Front splitter replacement / splitter leaking water?!
I cracked the front splitter - I *think* I must have hit a small piece of road debris and put a hairline in it. Don't recall when, but noticed the crack last night.
A search indicates its not too hard to replace the splitter but a couple of questions: I'm not in a particular rush to replace this side of winter, but suggestions on the best place to source a replacement would be welcome. Also, for those that have had to replace, did anyone find an alternative to pop-rivets when re-attaching? I read some posts about rubber compression nuts (not sure of the technical term)...?? The really interesting thing is that the small crack in the splitter is leaking! I'll assume this isn't some kind of front-end ballast, but rain/wash water finding a way in - anyone else come across this?! Thoughts on that welcome! Cheers, Alex |

Not sure about an alternative to rivets, but yeah these absolutely like to hold water. I drilled a few holes in the bottom of mine (one at each end then two more evenly spaced between the first two) to help let the water drain out.

I had a similar experience (racoon) and replaced the stock piece with one from RPI, was a much more reasonable price and made of more durable/ flexible material than the hard plastic stock unit. Looks identical except for being a slightly more matte colour which I prefer and have used it for the season with no issues... would suggest checking them out.

Thanks both -
At the moment its "fixed" with clear gorilla tape and think I'll be drilling a few small holes this weekend. Will check out the RPI splitter. |

If you do get the RPI one I highly recommend wrapping it with PPF, the paint quality isn’t that great on it so my was mutilated after my first track day with it on the car.

I got my replacement from ACS composites. solid quality. I saved some money and had it painted locally. I looked for rivet alternatives but found nothing really reasonable.
When I cracked my OEM one, I caught the corner of a curb in a parking lot. made a huge crack and I felt it in the seat. Scared the shit outta me when I jumped out to look at the damage and saw a puddle of water forming. I thought I REALLY nailed it and cracked a radiator or something. Nope. The splitter just likes to collect water. |

I drilled two small holes in the splitter this past weekend - one each end - the amount of water that drained out was really surprising. I'd guess at least a quart.

Same for me. I bumped a curb in a parking space and put a small hole in mine, right dead center and I noticed that water was leaking out, so I just left it as is so the water would drain out

Street scene splitter. Looks better, solid piece not hollow, more durable but will still break when hitting dead pig in road. Just FYI. Lol
