Torque Converter Shudder with 1500 miles - Fluid Change or TC Change??

So I have a dilemma...

My car has about 1500 miles and I have the torque converter shudder. I took it too the dealer and they first told me they would need to do the flush and fluid change per the TSB.

After arguing with them they agreed to skip that and do the torque converter change but needed to order the part. After weeks of back and forth, the part is in.

Here is my dilemma....

Do you think my mileage is low enough that the fluid change would fix my issue? It probably didn't start until I was over 1k miles. Do you think the torque converter has permanent damage?

What concerns me is researching the amount of things that need to be removed from the car just to get to the torque converter... Seems very excessive.

Truth be told, I honestly don't trust the dealer doing that job and am hoping to take the least "invasive" route to get this fixed.

Whst are your thoughts...

I had the flush done. Still experiencing shudder, tho it has improved. I was told to drive the car for a couple hundred miles and the “new fluid” will help with some of that friction. Guess we’ll see. I am say if it’s not resolved, I will be having them replace the TC.

If your TC is shuddering, it's past fixing. you can bandaid it by tuning out the slip tables, or use the proper fluid, but once it starts, it is never the same. you'll also need to keep the car out of v4 mode because it's tuned to allow more slip to alleviate the pulsing inherent with that mode.

All in all, you need the new converter, the new fluid, zeroed out slip tables, and keep your car out of v4 mode to get rid of it for sure. You can *possibly* use a combination of these and never see it again, but it's not proven as nobody has had enough miles to show anything of it just yet.

I had the shudder, and 2 triple flushes later it was still there. My car was supposedly made with the new converter and fluid from the factory due to the build date.

I currently have almost 6k on a new TC, with new fluid. I've not let my car see V4 mode since the new tc, and the shudder isn't there at all. crossed fingers. knock on wood. etc.

I just wanted to put my story on here because I guess I'm the exception, not the rule. I had the shudder around 14k. Did the triple flush (and nothing else), and there was still some shudder. Took it back to the dealer and they said it needed another triple flush, so they repeated it.

Since the second triple flush, I've had zero problems for 10k miles. My car enters V4 mode and I can't tell the difference between V8 mode. I have a 2016 SS.

I just got the flush done last month and have put about 600 miles with no shudder issues at all. I will be purring about 400 more miles on the car this weekend so we'll see how that goes.

Took mine to the dealer, they triple flushed and replaced the TC all at once. (I think software was loaded also ) I now have put a little over 11k miles on mine and it hasnt shuddered at all. I hope that I am one of the lucky ones and this was the fix for mine.

I had the shutter start up about a month ago and ended up dropping off to the dealership on Monday. They flushed the transmission, lines and filled it back up along with an additive specified on the TSB. They said I may experience some hard shifts for the next 500 miles while things are being relearned but I drove it home on yesterday and it shifted like butter. I took it easy for the first few miles and then I started getting on it and it was rock solid, no shutter and felt strong! I plan to get as many miles on it as I can before I put the car away for the winter and see how it goes. My dealership said they've had about 4-5 cars in for this, have yet to replace a torque converter.

I agree with this. I installed my Range AFM as soon as my car got home from new. I also had the fluid changed from Dexron HP to Mobil 1 LV at 1000 miles before I ever experienced any shuddering. And I just bought HP Tuners to zero the slip tables soon too. But once it shudders, that TC is going downhill fast IMO.

Thanks guys. I finally bit the bullet and decided to make the appointment with the dealer to change the torque converter. They said it's going to take a day and a half. Does that sound right? I'm fine with the time I would rather have them take longer and do it right but I just want to know if that seems reasonable

I think you forgot to say how long it would take.

It took my dealership 3 business days (5 days total including weekend), from start of diagnosis to ordering TC, installing, and me taking car back.

Mine is about the same for miles. Time to call the dealership and bite the bullet. I've also had the plastic B-pillar cover for the tonneau break for the 2nd time. First time, I had the car less than 6 months. The replacement lasted 18. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=483973

Haha sorry about that. They told me about a day and a half. They have the parts ordered and in stock just waiting for the car.
