Need Help!!

So about every other day I’ll be driving and my temperature gauge will stop working and my fan will just stay on even when I turn the car off. I’m thinking it might be a relay but not for sure. Seeing if anyone else has had this problem?
On another note, the first time this happened I just disconnected the negative stud cable and connected it back and it all resets and goes back to normal. Then like 2 days later it would happen again. Any thoughts on what it might be?

Assuming your car is stock (not tuned), here's a few:
* Coolant Temp sensor failure,
* Coolant Temp sensor wire failure (rodent, etc.).
* Loose connector at the sensor.

I would hook up a scan tool that lets you monitor the coolant temperature independent of the car's display. If it is erratic, it is probably the sensor. These things are usually pretty cheap to replace. Now whether or not it is easy to get to on this car... I don't know.

I had my cooling fan fail at about 9,000 miles which had my temp gauges topped out which almost led to overheating. They replaced the shit fan and all good now. Different situation but that fan could be a issue down the road.
