Throttle Hang

Just picked up a new ZLE having traded in my ZL1. I am having a weird problem that I did not have with my 17 . If you are in 1st or 2nd gear and to a lessor degree in higher gears when accelerating hard and letting off the car does not shut down completely it’s as if the throttle is staying open to the point it takes all the brake you can muster to get it slowed down . Has anyone else experienced this dangerous condition . I’m not an autocrosser but this condition would make it nearly impossible in the first three gears . Anybody else experiencing this ?

Thanks for any input

What is your RPM gauge saying? Did you shift while the throttle is hanging? You'll know if it is open as soon as you come out of gear when it revs excessively high or if RPMs don't come down.

I am not sure if there is an issue with yours, but there is a small delay, of like 1/2 to 1 sec. from the time you press or let off the pedal for the acceleration or engine braking to happen on my SS 1LE.

It's definitely not like the old days of instant reaction.

No shift involved it was a short burst of throttle then on the brakes it just didn't release as expected and it was hard for the brakes to get it pulled down it was as if I was still on the throttle and braking at the same time . very strange

Well if that is in the factory tune I am wondering why my 17 ZL1 did not exhibit this . thanks for the reply

Doesnt sound normal to me. Have it looked at. Mine has never did that.

Are you positive you are not hitting the gas pedal with your braking foot. I have did that before. You cant really feel it happening with shoes on.

Sounds like Performance Shift Management.

Not sure what that is but I’m never upshifting when this occurs just accelerating and lifting throttle

I notice it on my 16 V6 manual Camaro and noticed it screwing around (hole shots) in a parking lot of a rental 2018 v6 automatic impala. Its noticed when I practice a quick launch in my Manual V6 Camaro . The practice involves starting from a standstill slipping the clutch a little to avoid tire spin, getting into the throttle to feel the bite and then lifting, its right there when I feel like its a delayed throttle release. Same with the rental, Throttle torque it up while holding the brake (dead stopped and in drive), let off the brake quickly floor the gas pedal for the hole shot and let off the gas, right there you feel the delay, like you only partially get off the gas.

In those situations I almost bet I am pushing the clutch in also.

Actually not for me, I have the tendency to lift first and then push in the clutch. Its at that moment you can feel the car still pulling, not as hard, but not like you just lifted off the gas completely. I felt the same thing in the automatic 2018 impala, lift off the gas and the car is still pulling (less but not what I want to feel) I have 2015 LT1 manual corvette, doesn't do that at all, you lift and it stops pulling no matter what I have done.

Shouldn't matter if there is no gear changes initiated. Rev match when on senses a gear change (down shift) by the movement of the shift lever and blips accordingly. If you don't touch the shifter it will never blip
