1st wax, 802 Miles
Everything but sail panels, b/c paint blotches. Gotta get polishing compound tomorrow to work on them. Got a few light scuffs off back bumper from dealer lot today, all new.

Nothing quite like it, is there. The first wax/detail on a new car.
Also, I think there's something curiously therapeutic about polishing a beautiful car on a pleasant day. |

Feels good to protect the new paint. What wax did you use? I used chemical guys jet seal.

Turtle wax, hard shell. It made it a shade darker. Boy, masking off the front grille was a bitch. Thank heavens I have covered parking at work, so I figure it will hold up til Mid Feb, before it warms up here in Phx,

There are liquid waxes where no masking is needed. Makes life a lot easier. Right now I'm using V07 hybrid high gloss, but there are many others. It's a good idea to do the wheels as well.

I used to use turtle wax. Lasted 6 months of water beading in Nc with all the sun here. Then found collinite 845, at the one year point it is still beading. I started using chemical guys products (jet seal) when I got the camaro.

Oh that is a lot of work, makes my arms and hands hurt from just reading that and looking at the pictures. Try switching to a sealant or coating, much easier, better results and longer lasting than wax.

I find waxing easy and do it on my cars often- once a month. It keeps the rain beading and the paint smooth. And doing it often makes waxing it take much less time. I can wax my car in 35 minutes if I use liquid wax or solid wax and in 20 minutes if I use the spray on. I don't let the wax dry as long as some do- I let it dry only to a haze, then buff it off. I wax one panel at a time. It comes off much more easily that way. I have been told my cars look amazing and often are asked how I keep them so clean and meticulous. My GF swears by the method of putting the wax on and letting it dry for an hour or more- but wow is it hard buffing off and it leaves streaks too in my opinion. And it's a 3 hour process. My method works, it's easy, been dong it for 40 years and I'll stick with it!

^^I'm beginning to slowly ease back into using wax instead as well. I understand they may not last as long as some sealants, but many easily go a month which is fine by me.
And yes, gloss and beading are great and they survive well in the rain. |

if you must wax, at least choose a hybrid that is wax and sealant together, like collonite 845. My back cant take the hard buff off, but the stuff is indestructible. I recc it for anyone driving thru a NE winter....
