Do you turn off traction control?

Someone mentioned in the ZL1 section that it’s recommended to turn off TC always for a boosted vehicle and that it could be bad for the engine if you don’t.

First I’ve heard of that and was curious how many always turn it off every time and how would it harm the engine.

Depending on the calibration, it can be bad. Usually on newer vehicles, the tune pulls timing, not fueling. So imo NO it doesn't hurt anything.

depending on the surface i'm trying to hook on, that determines if i goto competitive mode (double tap tcs in sport/track mode) for racing purposes.

hope this helps.. spinnin ain't winning haha.

It's a habit. I hold the button for 10 seconds and it turns everything gremlin off!

I do this also or else I can feel it pull timing at WOT and it feels very sluggish and unresponsive at points. If the road conditions are 100% warm/dry I keep it on and deal with it for safety, if they are nice I always turn it off.

Wow thanks guys. I've been doing it wrong all this time. lol. I was under the impression with TC ON it would always control the power based on how well our tires were gripping so that we could put down the most power possible without spinning. and with TC OFF, well then it's just going to spin under all conditions.

Even with TC ON I still get wheel spin in the lower gears but always assumed how much worse it would have been with it OFF.

I'm confused. I always thought tapping the button twice quickly turned all nannies off. What does holding it down 10 seconds do?

2 taps is competition mode and just disables TC. If you hold it for 10 seconds it turns off TC and Stabilitrak. AFIAK.

99.99 percent of the time I now leave traction control on. When off, it better be straight, no power shifting, dry nobody around and even then it is lift shift apply power... call me a wimp.

I can tell you guys right now that my track times tell me that Stabilitrak Competition Mode (double tap) saves me about 1-2 seconds versus a full off Traction Control (hold for 10 seconds).

So I am always happy to double tap every chance I get.

So are you guys saying that the double tap competition mode even though both lights saying TC and Stabilitrak is off, is different then holding the button down for 10 seconds ?
Sorry if I seem brain dead but it sounds to me like yall are saying that competition mode still pulls power away when wheel spin is sensed even though TC is off. I just dont want the damn thing pulling power , so do I double tap or do I hold it for 10 seconds ??? , good lord what happen to my box of jets and timing light..
