High speed unstable, front end lift, not planted etc
Hi All,
I am experiencing (since new) an unplanted feeling from the front end around 120mph and above. 0-100 the car is planted like a scared squirrel on the trunk of a pine tree. There are no noises, I have done 2 diff oil changes, transmission A8 oil change, 2 alignments, new tires and a bunch of oil changes. Car has 15 k miles but like I said, this has been happening since new. I have been under the car and checked it a bunch of times for anything. Thanks. |

I think all cars get sort of light in the front at high speed. You likely need to add aero parts to increase down force and decrease the air pressure under the car at high speeds. Front splitters and side skirts are designed to do that. I know the exact feeling you're talking about but I've never felt it was a problem, just a result of a lot of air getting under the car.

I believe I've felt the same thing you do and I've determined it's just the need for more aero. I've considered a front chin spoiler/splitter and possibly an upgrade to 1LE suspension sometime in the future, but I have yet to make a move on either of these options. For me, it's about 85-90MPH where things feel like they're starting to be less composed. Definitely above 100MPH I can tell that there's room for improvement. This is on a 2SS with mag ride.

The last time I drove a car at over 120mph on public roads I was a 17 year old idiot and the car was an 1970 Olds Cutlass. Who knows how fast I was going since the speedo only went to 120?
But at the drag limited speed, there was zero steering feedback. I think the car was close to airborne. Grow up, dude, while you're still alive. |

"So I was doing about a buck-20 on the interstate the other day and the car didn't feel safe."
Bruh. A functional front splitter and canards will help a bit, but the easiest way to keep air above the car and out from under the car is by lowering the ride height. Science. Maybe even a little positive rake (rear end slightly higher than the front) |

Thank you
Thanks for the responses. I am going to work on the aero. I like the idea of going to a 19 wheel in the front to increase downforce. I will update the post as I upgrade the car. Thanks again!

Btw, CA Highway Patrol is nothing to mess with, I'd avoid doing 120 anywhere on a public road out there. |

Yea I know, 90 really feels like 55 in these cars....still gatta becareful tho. I already got pulled over for 70 in a 55 which is 15 over and got the "nice cop" ...I wouldnt wanna dream of what he would have did if he clocked me doing 65 MPH over the limit
