Bots On's, LT's, stock muffler; better sound?

Guys

Just got my car back from the bolt-on mods. Long tubes, cat delete, X pipe, pulley, stock muffler, tune.

Reason I kept the stock muffler was to have ability to quiet down sound when want to. Obviously knew this route would be louder than stock but DAMN this thing is loud now! The thing I don't like even more is the tone with the stock muffler. I think it's very "blatty" and just off...hard to explain. This is mostly with the baffles closed. I had an '01 WS6 w/long tubes, no cats and borla. Loved that sound. Roared when WOT and reasonable when part throttle, but was still quieter over all and had great tone all round.

Any of you guys that did similar mods feel the same?

I know there are exhausts with the NPP option. Anyone go that route and feel it better? I know better is a subjective term.

Looking for a more consistent tone and actually would like it a little quieter.

Really don't want to go green cats as told they will eventually fail but understand they help take edge off the roar at WOT...

Thanks

Got a video? I’ve been looking at similar mods. I’d like to hear a cold start and pick out what your talking about.

Headers really make a difference on these cars - I think its perfect actually.
With a cam - it is even louder still.

The header/catless LT1 has the same tone you are explaining, I just leave the NPP in track mode all the time unless I know that I need a quiet start up in the morning. You'll get used it, I did and I love it now.

I would install resonators at minimum & in my opinion that would remedy the concerns you have with the exhaust note.

I feel you. Been there done this with my SS. My ZL1 stock shorties will stay on. If I do anything it will be just a complete system that removes the rear cats but keeps the stock hookup. For the small amount of HP you get with LTs to me it is not worth it unless you are going big power. And it makes it harder to back to stock.

However at the track many loved the screaming wide open sound of the ARH SS. On the street it was not as nice with the boomy/blatty sound. Most of the time I ran in full time Stealth with my SS then open at the track. That wasn't too bad.

What I did with my LT NPP fifth gen 1LE was to add a resonator. This toned the sound down for that car. Smoother sound and much more pleasant.

TSP headers, No Cats, Stock suit case.. sounds good a WOT no drone but more driving noise over my Wifes headers and Borla ATAK. I'n 6th gear on the highway my wife's car in track mode is so quiet but then give it gas and its so freaking loud I love it.

Mine on the other hand has a little more highway noise in 6th gear no drone just can tell its present. Also at low speeds and low rpms it doesn't sound as good as her ATAK system.

There is no comparison its better than nothing ( headers w suit case) I was hoping to show of the 1st ZL1 w Carbon tips at Cfest (yes I know people are putting SS tips on but, Borla doesn't do that... they have part number for Zl1s and SS they don't make a 1 kit fit all they test and tune all models they know that a SS sounds different than a ZL1 w a Blower) Anyhow it looks like it still in production dang it!

I'm running Kooks long tubes into a Kooks 3" midpipe (full decat) into the stock suitcase on my convertible and I love it. At low rpm and cruising (even up to 70mph) you can barely hear it, its plenty quiet to have a normal conversation (well as normal as possible in a vert) with the roof down, but get on the loud pedal and all hell breaks loose.

PS. Even the wife agrees.
