Track tires that last?

Does anyone have experience trying a few different track tires? I'm really tempted by the Federal 595RS-RR but have heard that they are basically only good for one day. Others have suggested the NT-01 as a good dedicated track tire. I'm basically just wondering what holds up under a Camaro. Planning to move to a 285/35r19 or similar size.

Hankook RS4’s. They are about as fast as an NT01 or RE71R and wear like iron. I just ran them at Mid Ohio last weekend for 3 days and you can’t hardly see any wear.

Whatever you get may benefit from some easy to moderate street driving before hitting the track.

I'm in the same boat, but will be running 18s. I was looking at the federals also, there was a good thread on a Corvette forum. Couple people had good things to say about them in both autox and track. Said the last about a season in autox or 3 to 5 track days. With them costing about half as much as other tires they are very tempting.

What about the front tire from the SS 1LE? 285/30/19.

It is actually a pretty decent tire that isn't too expensive. You have to understand what you are driving, nothing will "last". With that said, when I had my SS 1LE I was able to get 4-5 days out of a set which is pretty damn good.

Shoot, forgot about that. Disregard. Next vote is for the Hankook RS4.

Yeah, the RS-4's would be great if they weren't so expensive. I really with there were more evidence of 18's fitting decently, stupid front strut.

I just talked with someone running the RS-RR's on a 2011 mustang and he actually gets up to 5 days out of them. For the money it seems like a viable option. We're talking $600 a set vs $1,600 a set for RS-4's. The next cheapest 19" tire is around $1,200 a set.

Decisions, decisions...

I ran 275-35-19 RS-RR's last summer and am currently running RS4's and have a set of RE71's for autocross.
The RS-RR literally howls on the freeway so be warned. compared to the RS4 or RE71 they do not tolerate heat at all and their sidewalls are significantly softer. they needed about 7 to 8 psi more pressure to keep them from rolling over or squirming. Even at comparable tire pressures the RS-RR rode more harshly for whatever reason, this could also mean less grip/compliance at the track.

I wouldn't get the RS-RR again. so far the RS4 acts like the RE71's but a smidgen less grip and they are slower to get up to temp but seem like twice as durable...
RS4 seems to give a tighter slip angle than the RE71 too...

...Kinda. Still waiting to try the GY SC 3R's in 20", but not for the wear quality. (Can't afford another set of rims already so soon to go 19")

Thank you for the info. I really loved RS3 and was wondering how RS4 would compare to RE71R, and really wanted to hear some experienced drivers' feedback on direct comparison on those two tires.
You are one of the most experienced driver on this forum, so your feedback means a lot.

My Champcar team is also buying RS4 as our next tires but I thought I might need a set for my Camaro before I get to try RS4 on Champcar.
When I'm done with RE71R on Camaro, I'm going with RS4!
