Limits of LT4 fuel system on E85

I've search but have found varying answers (some that don't make much sense), so I'm starting a new thread...

Assuming this is on an LT1, what approx WHP can you get close to on E85 with the following mods...
  1. LT4 HPFP
  2. LT4 Injectors
  3. LT4 in-tank pump
  4. +32% cam fuel lobe

Welcome to give me an approx whp limit for 92/92 as well - but E85 is what I'm after.

Listening... I found the info confusing too.

The best explanation I found was from Jannetty when he was comparing the e85 and the 93oct setup on his Super Street Brawler package.

E85 will require about 30% more volume. Another factor is whether you have alcohol injection. Most people do at this level, so getting a straight answer is tough. You can make mid 700s on 93 with alky injection. The fuel system just can't keep up on E85 at this level even with the upgrades. I have given up on E85 and settled for 93 and race gas tunes.

E85 tune, same as above to limit of fuel system.

Looks like I'll be pretty close to the limit then.

I have those mods, with an LT4 blower + 2in catless headers and the WeaponX stage 2 pulley (which should be about 9psi).. and will probably be in the 670-720whp range.

I have VR forged drop-ins so that will help...

Depending on how the tuning session goes, I might consider a voltage booster and/or a pusher pump in-tank to help.

With dual methanol injection and e85 etc at 782 to the tires with 11lbs of boost. Can go up to 12lbs before fuel is an issue

I run a KB boost -a- pump on the low side but that pump is not the issue, it’s the high side pump which runs out of fuel first. This combination is boosting at approx 8.5 lbs average with 1 7/8” ARH , no cats, and X-pipe to stock exhaust.

My man! That's going to be my exact setup. I have the BAP also.

If we run the 85mm pulley, that will only be about 9psi, with e85, we know that gets in the 725whp range.

We could also up the boost a bit and run the 80mm pulley for 93 octane and probably get very similar results.

My plan is to also work in a race gas tune so that for the occasional track day I can bump it to 800whp. No need to go that far for regular street driving. I would like to stay away from the alky injection, but I might have to give in...

RideZX6R,
You are going to drop boost with the headers and the cam. Are your pistons the lower compression pistons or same as stock? I can't wait to see your results because at 9-10psi with the cam and headers, you are going to be on the edge of what that blower can do...or so it seems. You could be a great test case once you hit the track. Are you going to run Alky injection? You are gonna be stupid fast that's for certain!

This doesn't really help as I'm not going to run methanol

Pistons are VR drop-ins which are stock compression.

Blower can do mid 700s, I'll probably be a bit distant from that.
The car is mainly for track days so I spec'd a cam that has lower dynamic compression, will run e85, and have WeaponX's TripleX upgraded HX kit.

I'll do a Skidmark garage pusher pump and/or voltage booster if need be, but not much else.

I'll probably drive it on 92 mostly but will want the e85 tune so I can keep it cool on track

The JRE package I referenced earlier saw 725rwhp with the manual transmission, 9psi, and e85. I imagine you will be very close to the same power. In that thread he said he found the fuel limit because at 11psi, the fuel system was not able to keep up with demand.

Are you planning to run road course or drag strip?

I believe Jenetty finds the limit around 660whp on his Dyno with no meth. Just Cam with fuel lobe and LT4 fuel system.

Actually, he has a thread on Super Street Brawler with 93octane and he shows that configuration at 700rwhp running 11psi.

So, you can run more boost on 93octane, or you can run less boost on e85 and the power is pretty similar. Let's say it should be in the 675-725range depending on A8 v M6, etc.

Personally, I would like to go for no alky injection and instead use race fuel to get more timing on occasion.
