Smile Electrical / Transmission / Wire Harness Issue - Issue Solved

I'll admit I'm not much of a car technical expert, but I saw this site and wanted to share a lesson learned on my 2010 1LT RS - V6 Auto.

About a month ago (October 2009) at around 2500 miles I began experiencing a loss in acceleration while cornering. Then 3 weeks ago, I was at a stoplight, in drive - and when the light turned green and I went to press down on the gas, nothing happened. The car was still on (radio going) - but it was if the car was in neutral. I had to shut off the car, turn it back on, and it took off right away as if nothing was wrong.

I took it to the dealership - upon consulation with the Camaro engineers, they intially thought it was a crankshaft position sensor - that was ordered and replaced but didn't fix the problem. They then replaced the battery - again no fix. By this time (2 weeks later) the car was nearly cutting out anytime it was being test driven.

Eventually they discovered that there was an engine wire harness that had been placed right at the corner of the fuseblock mount and had been rubbing and had frayed the wires - causing a short. One that was replace, and the wires encased in a harder shell, the car started running and accelerating fine again. The mechanic reported it up to Chevy - might be a design flaw.

Just posting this for anyone with a similar issue. Happy trails.

Looks like they corrected it because I checked mine and it looks like there is plenty of clearance. Vin # 47000+

Here is something else to look for. While I was under my car (2SS LS 3) I noticed that the wire for the passenger side pre-cat O2 sensor was rubbing on the edge of the heat shield right next to it. I just bent the shield a little and it looks OK now. Yet another potential wire issue!

Just got mine back for a simple clutch repair and state inspection. State inspection took 22 days because of the stupid fuse block. If your fails inspections because it wont clear codes have them replace the fuse block.
