Tuning the motor/ tuning the trans question

My apologies if this has been already covered but I scrolled through tons of pages and took in alot of information.

But my main question is can I get away with just tuning the motor and waiting on the transmission? My only mods will be an intake and ported throttle body for right now. It's a '17 car so if have to send in my tcm for the unlock procedure.

If I only do the motor what will I be looking at? Will the car feel "peppier" ?
I'm guessing no real gains?

Thank you in advance

ECM and TCM communicate Torque request information a million times a second, if you don't tune both your leaving a lot on the table.
