Maintenance Costs on 1LE
I’m sure this has been covered in other threads. So sorry for a Re hash.
But can you guys give any insight into costs of maintenance on a 1LE? Like a major service replacing plugs etc? Trying to compare with a ZL1. Thx much |

Pretty sure plugs a iridium and only need to be changed at about 100k miles along with the coolant.
Services should be close to identical with the ZL1 and 1LE, with the ZL1 probably eating a few extra sets of tires and maybe a couple extra sets of brakes due to the extra weight. Tires and brakes will be the major maintenance costs, with the heavier more powerful car costing more. Tire are the first to go and for the 1LE and can run from about $1050 a set and up.

How many miles do you plan on driving the ZL1 or the 1LE per year? Most people that buy these types of cars do not use them as daily drivers. Unless it is a daily driver. I would not worry about long term maintenance costs.

Good question. Not a daily driver but by no means not a garage queen either. I’d guess 9 to 10 thousand miles a year. I’m 64 now have no plans to save this car for the next guy. I AM THE NEXT GUY, lol.
So I figure if I put 100K miles on this thing in the next ten years I’ll be 74 (if I make it that long) I will have enjoyed the heck out of the car and then tool around like a turtle the rest of my days. I also think that these engines are pretty bomb proof so 100K miles is no great shake for this thing. I’ve enjoyed a lot of cars over the years. Porsche’s, BMW’s, C6 Z06. This is my last car. I test drove one and thought it killed my BMW M3! Awesome car! |

Fuel economy is regular driving shouldn't be that different.. on the throttle I would imagine that the ZL1 is worse but who cares?

My .02 cents for what it's worth. By going off what you posted.
Get the ZL1 with the auto. Not the ZL11LE or a 1 or a 2 SS1LE. Think about it. You do not sound like the type that is going to be doing a bunch of track days. So you will not be feeling/enjoying the benefits of the 1LE with the stick. I am several years behind you in age. The 1LE package was the exact fit for what I wanted at this time. But I was very tempted by the auto ZL1. This will probably be my last stick/standard transmission car. Since you can only get the 1LE with a stick. This will also probably be my 1st and last 1LE. The auto in the ZL1 is actually fun to drive. If I was doing 9 to 10k a year. The auto would weigh heavily in my decision. |

The factory maintenance schedules for the 1LE and ZL1 are very similar. They maaaay be identical. As for personal experience, I'm on my 5th oil change, 3rd set of brake pads, and I'm about to do my 2nd set of tires in the 8 months I've had this car, so I can't help much with costs unless you're planning on tracking yours as much as I do mine!
It adds up, so don't ever hit that total button on your budget! And if you aren't going to track the car, don't bother with the 1LE. It really don't make much sense for a street car. |

This definitely depends on your level of visceral desensitization. I get bored driving something less involving.

Unless, if you're like me, you just want to own a 1LE because it's not that common and you appreciate the configuration and enhanced performance over the standard SS. I have not driven the standard SS but I have read others who say that the 1LE is noticeably better for the performance street driver.
