Zl1 1LE, Northwoods Shelby Club @ Road America 4/28/18.

Caught this car at Road America today. Looks flat out awesome in person. I was disappointed to find that it was so quiet on the track, surprised me. By comparison, the GT350 R's weren't much louder... the C7 Z06's on the other hand!

It’s possible that it was in “stealth mode.”

Quite possible, I would've thought under full throttle (at such speeds) it would've opened the valves anyways. On a side note, caught one GT350R owner flat bedding his car out of the paddock due the mechanical engine failure. Says he's only had the car for 8 months and 2k miles, made it 6 laps! He stated there were two others with the same issue there as well. Saw one of them getting closed up in the trailer a few minutes later. Unfortunate.....

I saw 2 or 3 ZL1 1LE's this morning at the car meet. They're awesome looking in person. But I do prefer the ZL1's cleaner look. C7 Z06s are significantly louder than ZL1s. I have both and just compared them today actually.

Surprise surprise, more GT350s biting the dust. That's what happens when Ford builds their first attempt at something with only a couple years of R&D. They're all ticking time bombs.

FringBirdAloha, to each their own, I think the GT350 & R look great.
Can'tHave2MuchHP, what meet were you at today?

Local race track, M1 Concourse, holds Cars and Coffees there. The weather was really bad, cold, windy and sprinkling here and there. But still a massive turn out.

Do you know what the ZL1s were running for lap times?

Sad... I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Especially someone who probably paid $30-40K over MSRP for the R.

Balance issues on that flat plane crank? Seems to be happening with some regularity lately.

BadgerBimmer: I never talked to the driver and didnt think about trying to time his laps until after I left the track.
Waterman: Yeah, I felt bad. Anyones car like these are their pride and joy. All 3 had happened before I got there about 9:30-10 am. He mentioned owning a Saleen Mustang that has blown its engine and transmission, the Roush he has has been ok and the '15 Z/28 he owns he labeled as "bullett proof".

By the way for those looking to run at Road America the Northwoods Shelby Club does a great job with their events. Generally there are a lot of interesting and very fast cars. I'll be there with them on July 7 & 8. It will be the ZL1's first track outing. I need to get busy on the break in miles!

I did also see two other 6th gens there, a Hyper Blue V6 1LE and a Black SS. I was expecting more of a turn out, knowing as BadgerBimmer stated that there are usually some very nice/fast cars with this club. I'm betting the colder temps of the weekend kept some away. Here's a few others that did show though....
