Lug Nuts Torque?
I brought my 2017 SS into my dealership for it's second free oil change plus a few issues I've had over the last week:
- Clicking sound under the front tires - AC cut out During their diagnostics, they called and told me that my lug nuts aren't rated for the 140 torque require and I will have to install my original lug nuts. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Those are the lug nuts I installed on my vehicle. They are aluminum and fit the thread of the car. Is there any reason why these lug nuts wouldn't meet spec for my car? |

Aluminum is too easy to strip and to corrode. Why use it?
Do you know what grade of Aluminum was used? Think what an impact can do to a softer metal especially at 140 ft-lbs.

Yeah, don't use those. You to have be very careful buying things on Amazon because you don't know if they are really what they say they are or if they are knockoffs. For something this critical, I'd stay far far away.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I guess I didn't make an informed purchase. They've already been replaced with the factory set.

"Aircraft grade" and "Military grade" always sounds impressive, but has little meaning from an engineering standpoint.

Recycle that Aluminium.
They can make something useful like Pabst cans. |
