Heat Exchangers for the Zl1

I'm dealing with Ben at Weapon X now on a set of exchangers, but a deal hasn't been done yet.

Question. Are the Mishimoto aux exchangers that Phastek sells for the Zl1 or for the SS?

And do upgrading those aux heat exchangers really worth it? I keep hearing the stock Zl1's cooling system is good enough, but I don't see it happening in 100 degree Houston weather.

I'm looking to cool temps a tick more. Meth and E85 is just not enough for me. I'm buying the NX lid, but I'd like to try to keep this car as cool as possible.

Any recommendations? I don't want to run any cooler tanks or I would of already gone that route. I still have a budget as I still have to cam after 2k.

I will never see the track btw. I roll race, so keeping temps down for a good 1 to 3 hours of hard street racing is what I need.

I have the Weapon x HX's and they work very well.!.! Anything you can do to keep IAT's down is a must.

Geesh, 740 RWHP isn't good enough yet? You really are an addict!!
Try a killer chiller if you want low IAT's.

That NX lid looks awesome, post pics if you plan to replumb your meth and add n2o??

Remind me never to line up next to you..

I thought it was good enough, but it's not. Need 800. Then, I'm sure once I hit that, I'll need 900. The problem is it's my daily for now, so my tires aren't holding and I won't daily with DR's so. I'm presently trying to find a tire I can daily, but will hook better than the stock Goodyears.

Once the NX lid is on, we are going to add more meth at the lid yes. No NOS. I want to run a 100 shot, but my tuner is killing me and won't put it on. Wants my car to last. haha.

I'm tapped out until I cam so. For now, I'm focusing on cooling it down more cus I know Houston summers are right around the corner.

I am doing the rear seat delete next week, so that should get me some lb's savings. 40 lbs out the back will help. Seems like a good amount of weigh should help me out a bit. Actually, it might make it worse. haha. Less traction at the rear.

I’ve been making similar power for 6 months and I’m in Beaumont. Idk if I’m going to do the weapon x kit yet. I have dual meth nozzles and e85. So my blower temps are ok... for now.

But when I swap for a whipple I doubt I spin it enough to warrent all the other cooling mods. My little stock blower is tapped out atm

We are running the same mods. Our blower is tapped out right now so, well, if i went cam, I can throw some more crap at it. But, for now, I'll just add the NX lid for later on more meth.

I just want to work on cooling now. I know the E85 and Meth are fine, but when Houston summer's come around, 1-2 hrs of hard pulls on the weekend is gonna test it out. By then tho, I'll be cammed and prob Whippled so. I'll be fine. But, I still want better fluid flow. Plus, with the NX lid, I can plumb more meth into it.

Honestly I'd say get it over with an do the Whipple now. You can decide on the cam if you want but really your heat issues (if you have them) are rooted from the high RPM of the stupid 1.7L eaton. A Whipple on low boost would easily match your current power level. Throw a cam and pulley at it and you'll see 900.

I don't have heat issues now. I'm just wanting to make sure I have my cooling needs met.

I have the NX lid on order now, so we'll plumb that up for more Meth. Cam is next, it's already on the to do list, but Matt is booked until after Tx2k so. I'll prob get it done in April, that should get me to the 800 mark. Then, I need to focus on tires. Any recommendations? I can't daily on DR's so. I'm looking at the R888R's, but I've been hearing the MP4S's are good. I'm kind of screwed honestly. haha. I need a DR for the streets. 20 inch.

R888R is the best. Me and my group of "car guys" have run them all, we all agree that the R888R is the best if you want to still have a car that handles and can hook. MP4S is good but no where near the level of a R888R in lateral grip for sure. The R888R barely a step down in lateral traction from a drag radial while still maintaining handling of a Sport Cup 2 or better.

And I know you don't have cooling problems yet but you're probably not running as cool as you'd like/anticipating issues in the summer heat so. Either way, a Whipple will take care of that + more power. With that NX lid, spraying in even more meth, you're basically going to be running a 50/50 mix of E/Meth which is going to be pretty interesting for sure. Not sure I've ever seen that done. Only reason I say go right to Whipple is because I'm kind of a "do it all at once" sort of guy instead of spending a constant little stream of cash and undoing some of them. Don't try to make the 1.7L work only to take it off for the 2.9L in a couple months. But, your car not mine.

The Weapon-X system looks good though.

I'm with you, but I still have to do it in stages for budgeting reasons. It's costing me $150k to launch my ICO so. I'm having to watch $ for a few months until we go live. The Whip will get done in due time, then that should about wrap it up.

I wanted to run a 100 shot, but Matt said no. We'll just run more Meth at the lid.

Yea, I'm leaning the R888R's too but saw the TransAm build at 1000 hp and they ran the 4s's and it held that power so. That's why I mentioned them. I don't care about a dig tire. I just need the most grip on rolls.
