Anyone think a diesel Camaro would be cool?

I know it is off the normal thought process of a performance car but there are some youtube video's with a camaro with a 6.6 duramax. I thought it would be neat to see a 2.0 camaro converted to a 2.8 duramax because the 6.6 is a bit much.
Before the haters come out look at the info below and keep in mind a lot of the chevy line up has a diesel option for fuel economy. Plus who doesn't want to blow a little black smoke on some of those mustangs.

Just some info for comparison is,
2.0 hp. #275 @ 5500
2.0 torque #295 @3000 up
weight roughly 350 lbs.

2.8 hp. #181 @ 3400
2.8 torque # 369 @2000
weight roughly 520 lbs.

What's your thoughts?

It's been done before. Boosted, Diesel can be absolutely insane.

I doubt you'll see many people on here agreeing to it however.

To most people that's like asking if you'd like a front wheel drive Camaro.

The only diesel I like is the 6.7 in my 2012 RAM 2500, otherwise if I had a diesel Camaro, I would have to mount a gooseneck hitch in the trunk so I can pull my 20 FT. trailer.....lol

I Think that a turbo diesel would be pretty neat in a Camaro, but it wouldn't make sense for how much it would cost and weigh. I'd rather see a Hybrid turbo 4 with crazy low-end torque.

No because it would in no way be a performer. A diesel from GM would have one purpose and that's fuel economy.

It would be awesome but we'd be seeing the emissions parts being deleted and tools blowing black smoke everywhere they go. No thanks.

Modern diesels are great in the right application; the Camaro might not be one of them. My wife's vehicle is a '15 BMW X5 diesel. It's never gotten less than 30 mpg, and that's mighty impressive for a 5000lb AWD vehicle with plenty of power. We've gone over 700 miles on a single tank. Too bad VW's cheating ruined diesels' chances for survival in the U.S. Mercedes just pulled the plug on U.S. diesels. Kudos to Chevy for trying to keep them alive in autos/SUVs.

To me, a big part of the muscle car is the v8 sound. A diesel would completely lose that and wouldn't really fit for a Camaro even if it was fast.

I love the cummins and owned a 2013 ram 2500 for 3 months and 1700 miles and the trans and Dodge customer service was bad enough for me personally to never buy another Dodge again in my life.
I traded a 2008 gmc duramax for it and that truck with less HP and torque pulled my trailer better due to the 3.73 rear than the dodge did but the dodge got great fuel mileage. I went a year without a truck until the 15's came out so I could get back into a duramax
