Resonator Deleted & Warranty
Hello Folks,
I recently deleted just the resonator on my 17 v6 NPP for louder sound and it's 20% louder give & take. I didnt call the dealership or GM customer servicer prior to delete and thought to give a shout and ask in general if there will be warranty issues, First call at Leggat Chevrolet Buick GMC, 360 Rexdale Blvd, Etobicoke spoke to service advisor and just after telling her iam looking to put aftermarket exhasut she went straight nice to rude tone and saying it would Void the warranty if any aftermarket parts insatlled to the vechile, also adviced me to contact gm and follow the car manual, I called the GM and same excat thing this woman told me without breif explanation. Finally, i called my dealership in Brampton and the guy also stated the same thing with additional information that if anything happened to the vehicle like check engine light we will find the root cause and if it's somewhat related to the exhaust or any aftermarket part it will void the warranty. So, guys, My vehicle is new and definitely not looking to get warranty spoiled, Should I go back and install the deleted resonator back just to be on safe side? And seems like I cant install any axel back aftermarket exhaust in future if I follow gm or dealership guidelines Last edited by tej; 12-21-2017 at 03:47 PM. |

Keep looking, some will be dicks, some won’t. My 2nd cats are deleted, my dealer does not care, however if the check engine light would come on, it would prob not be warranty, however I would know it was an air leak, from a faulty weld....easy fix....

The right answer to this.. if you bent a rod or if your transmission slipping was caused an aftermarket exhaust, then you won't be covered. However, what are the chances of an aftermarket exhaust causing those catastrophic failures? Very slim chance.
I have an aftermarket exhaust and lowering springs.. I technically only voided warranty on my exhaust components and suspension. Only a tune generally voids your powertrain warranty (GM will ask for the ECM data for expensive cost failures). As far as the 2nd cat delete goes, they have their own emission standards so that will largely depend on your dealer from the start. |
