Anyone have issues installing AA Fuel Door?
Purchased one from a fellow forum member and it does not fit right. Wondering is anyone else had issues? I did a search and nothing really came up. I can get the door to install (after making some minor alterations) but it will not stay shut. It's as if the door is misshaped. Just looking to see if anyone else experienced issue. I already contacted AA just waiting to hear back. Thanks.

Sorry to see that. Did previous owner have an issue with install? What minor alterations where made? I'll alert American Authority to check their inbox for your email.

The previous owner never installed it. It was brand new, still in the sealed bag. As for the alteration/modification, the tab on the edge was about 3/4" long and would not allow the door to slide into place. The one on the GM door is only about 1/4" long. I trimmed it and it worked fine but the door will still not stay closed properly.

Seems there are some slight fitment issues with this fuel door. I needed to trim the tab you refer too as well. The only other issue I noticed is that you have to push the door closed pretty hard to get the spring push button to engage. For the time being I put a small amount of tape there to add a millimeter or two and allow for easy closing. Will be adding some type of foam tape over the weekend.
I am definitely not complaining needing to slightly modify a product I got for free. Hoping their other products fitment is better as I plan to purchase a couple items in the near future. |

I got one during their giveaway special, and it has some fitment issues as well. It will rub on the hinge side, I have to shift it slightly to avoid that as there is a bit of play. If I had paid money for it I might have seen about an exchange or something, but this is really just a temporary setup until I get around to ordering the painted one I want from River City. I might see if any trimming will help in the meantime.

That's probably why they were free. Small defect and they couldn't sell them like that othwise there would be a lot of unhappy customers. Can't complain if they are free I guess.
