Just found some interesting information when it comes to touch up paint for our Hyper Blue cars. I called the dealer and gave them my VIN to lookup my paint. I asked if it showed it as Hyper Blue Metallic and I was told they were calling it Blew Me Away Metallic. That had me concerned about it being the right color, so I commenced searching the web and found some really interesting info. Apparently there are at least 3 different colors that all use the same touch up paint; Hyper Blue, Kinetic Blue, and Blew Me Away Metallics. They all use the same GM part number 19331138 and paint codes WA388A and GD1. Are they the same color or just so close that they use the same touch up paint?

Interesting. When I was looking on a site at 2017 colors, all I could find was Blew Me Away. I haven't followed up to see if they are the same. Had not seen Kinetic Blue anywhere yet.

They are not the same color, use this chart.

I think the Kinetic Blue was listed for a Chevy Cruze. I didn't know if the colors were all actually the same thing with different names depending on the vehicle they were on or what.

Cool! Thanks! Looks like Hyper Blue and Blew Me Away are the same color, but I don't even see the Kinetic Blue listed there. I also see that Hyper Blue is not a tri coat color. I was kinda worried about that for my fender repair that I still need to have done. Should be much easier to match the paint for whoever sprays it for me.

They did a similar thing with the Synergy Green Metallic/Dragon Green Metallic....was same color....but different names for different cars...

I remember some dude on here had a chip on his hb hood and the touch up paint didn't match for sh1t

Kinetic blue is on the Cruze Colorado and Bolt. Same color as Hyper blue with a different name. All codes are GD1. Be aware that it is very hard if not impossible depending on the area you are touching up to get a good color match using the OEM touch up pen with this metallic color.

I remember seeing that hood. And yeah.....pretty much any metallic or pearl paint has been nearly impossible for me to match with touch up pens, but we'll see how this works. I have to have my fender painted no matter what, so I'm going to try this touch up paint on the edge of my bumper cover to see if I can prevent having the entire front sprayed. If it doesn't suite me, then I'll just get it done too. Other than the edge that meets the fender, the rest of the cover is still in good shape, otherwise I wouldn't hesitate painting it all. Figured I'd eventually need some touch up paint for the future, so why not go ahead and give it a try.

The GM paint code (GD1/WA 388A) is all that matters. I have a garnet red Camaro, the color is still dubbed "caught red handed" on the OEM ACDelco can I ordered, and it's a 100% match despite G7E being one of the only 2 tricoats on offer.

I ordered a 2016 SS in the late summer/early fall of 2015 as soon as ordering opened. I wanted HBM, but they only listed Blue Me Away on the order form. It was built first week of official production. A paper in the trunk stated Blew Me Away, but the window sticker said Hyper Blue Metallic.

I think I like the original names of these colors better, but I guess it's just easier to list then with a single word instead.
