Michelin ps4s or cup 2’s

Alright guys I’m looking at the new ps4s and the cup 2 tired by Michelin in 305/30r20 for my rears. My car will be at about 750-800 to the tires by Christmas so need opinion on which would be better for street. Car rarely sees the track.

Thanks for the advise

I have the same question. Was curious what everyone with high horsepower is running.

I hear the ps4s is a good daily driver if you only track sometimes and has some characteristics from the cup 2 and price is much better. The cup 2 I’ve read aren’t good in rain and you will eat them up quick but I only drive the car 3-4 times a month. Price difference for 2 rears is about 2-3 hundred.

I have run the PS4S on the street and track extensively since it first came out. Initially on my gen 5 ss 1LE and more recently on my Gen6 ZL1 1LE. It is a really good street tire, and a predictable track tire. It works very well in the rain. On track it lacks the ultimate grip of the cup2 or the Goodyear 3R the ZL1 1LE comes with. The PS4S, like most real street tires, is also not as good at doing two things at once as racier tires (trail braking, or putting power down while still cornering).

The PS4S is not tire that is going to hook up 700-800 hp in the dry the way a cup2 will, or an RE71R for that matter. But it will do better than most.

The flip side is the PS4S wears like iron in comparison the cup2.

Hope that helps.

So probably the cup 2 would be better at holding the 700-800 whp than the ps4s in your opinion

I've never had anywhere near that amount of horsepower, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I'd guess you will have trouble hooking up with any tire you decide to go with. The Cup2's will be stickier, yeah, but will it really be noticeable with that amount of horsepower to warrant the constant cost of replacing them?

On a side note, I will likely be using P4S's on a spare set of wheels for my ZL1 1LE when it gets driven on the street.

For street use in FL yes you’ll want the wet grip and tread life of the PS4S.
