C7 > ZL1 ??
Hey all !
Current '15 C7 Z51 owner thinking of moving into a '18 ZL1 vert. Look forward to reading all the posts, opinions and info. Really like my C7, but been toying with getting a 4 seater convertible. Have a '95 968 cab but no back seat as w/ C7 coupe, so thinking of a ZL1 vert. Drove ZL1 coupe for a short ride at dealer, and hoping to take a ride to drive another ZL1 in drop top form to see if I like. Anyone go from C7 to ZL1 vert? Regrets, Love it - etc. Thanks. CVG |

Not a C7, but went from a GT350 to an'18 ZL1 convertible. It really is an awesome car.

I went from a 2014 M7 C7 Z51 to a coupe A10 ZL1. Really an apples and oranges comparison. Which car suits you best will depend entirely on what you're after in a car.

I went from a 2016 Z06 M7 to a 2017 ZL1 A10 Vert purchased back in June of this year, really love this Vert! No regrets! As mentioned above, apples and oranges for sure as the back seat can't sit anything but two small kids at best, so I use it for my "extra trunk space", LOL.

Big performance difference though, isn't there? No eLSD for instance? Anything else?

My '16 stingray had eLSD and I'm guessing the ZL1 has it so no difference there at least. FWIW, I do miss the better handling of the vette, but I'm just a little too big for it. The lower seat bolsters in the C7 were cutting into my left thigh and I had trouble finding a comfortable fit in the cockpit. Also, my family is tall so the fairly small passenger compartment was an issue. I've owned C4's - C7 and it felt like each gen got a little tighter on the interior. The Camaro addresses those things at the cost of the sharper handling. |

No, I’m saying the ZL1 very does not have it. It was not designed to be a track/performance model. No PDR option either for example. I was just wondering what other features like that you may miss coming from a car like that to a vert Z.

there is a back seat in these cars? I have a coupe, and the back seat is too small to use for anything.

That's a shocker. I was thinking the ZL1 would have the PTM features for sure. That is one of the things I really liked about the vette. Even the Gen 6 SS models have eLSD, just not the PTM. It could take a average driver on a road course and make them faster and safer. Are you sure on the PDR? I think I've seen vids of the PDR on a ZL1. I know the SS 1LE I looked at the other day had it. |

I'm 6'4 so the back seat is way useless for me. I've been looking at back seat delete options and having that area be a dedicated storage area with some closing bins or something. (still want to keep the pass through back seat though)

The ZL1 does have eLSD and PDR is an option.

The convertible ZL1s do not have the ELSD. Only the coupe gets it.
And for whoever mentioned that the SS has the ELSD, that’s only the SS 1LE. A lot of bad information getting spread around. And yes, the ZL1 coupe has PDR as an option. I’m not sure about the convertible, as those cars aren’t my cup of tea. |
