Did you miss that the seatbelt was left dangling and not secured to anything? Details man.. details.

Something tells me that if you look at the TCO of a heavily modded 1LE versus a stock ZL1, it would be better for your wallet to just get the ZL1. And you'd get factory reliability and driveability as well.

Did you get any codes when you removed the passenger seat? I was wanting to remove mine also but I was told by the dealership it would disable the airbag system if I took the seat out.

If you emulate the squib loads accurately enough it might retain functionality for the rest of the system, but there's no way to test that without crashing the car.

Basically, if you get an airbag light on the dash, you screwed up and the whole system is deactivated or at best reduced to minimal functionality (e.g. 1st stages only).
