Blizzak WS80 winter tires advice
Hello Guys,
I called bunch of tire places to find which one is good for winter and mostly recommended me Blizzak WS80, I own 17 v6 with rs package. Blizzak WS80 18 Inch is going for $1450+ with steel wheels and 17 inchs are around 1100 with steel wheels. If i down size to 17 will there be any issue with handling or anything like that ? or should i go for 18 without steel wheels if they can fit on my stock 20 inch wheels Please advice. |

Staying stock would require paying to swap them out every season.
Steelies allow you to switch easily...and sell them if you have too. Switching to a 17 will give you the same height but more sidewall. That would give a nicer ride. I would go 17" steelies save some money and enjoy the smoother ride

Downsizing 1 inch is better for winter. Do not swap the stock tires for winter tire on the same rims. Check with wheelsco.ca they might have a better price. Also, I suggest going with alloy rims... steel rim might get rusted over time.

Iam curious why would you risk or want to drive the camaro in winter, mine is parked and covered in my garage till spring.ive seen a couple around here trying to get around and it's funny and also the car isn't meant in my thoughts to be driven in snow that's why you buy a winter beater.Just my thought

i bought my tires for my SS at dream trie on harvester in oakville. Tires were $700 mounted on s set of 18" steel rims i purchased form them for $300. I purchased use camaro LS rims from 2010 which are quite common on kijiji and are a great fit only 16 ss.
Dropping rim size isn't the important thing it really only saves you money. Narrower tires are the key. You want to cut into the snow. |

There were only 2 days last winter I had issues with getting around.
I have BFG comp2 A/S in the stock 20" size. Last week's snow caused zero issues for me. Drive with a brain and its no problem Enjoy the 17s. You will have no issues this year.

Oh I know all about winter driving growing up in Alberta plus driving highway tractor for years. All I was saying was it seems a shame to drive a car like we own in the snow and salt and chemicals, plus the chance of someone sliding into you at a light or stop sign.I bought mine to enjoy in the summer for the mountain road trips and just fun times cruising

I live in the city, even with winter tires on it is useless. Others who are driving on all season will plow into my car. Also, main roads are fine. But, our side streets when the snow starts coming down. The camaro is basically a snow plow with the low clearance. Would not even be able to get it into my garage.
So, best way. Transit Or get a winter beater. That sucks, since our insurance is quite expensive and maintenance on a second vehicle is waste.
