New MRC calibrations from GM/Chevrolet

Saw this for the C7, cost is $350...interesting. Also interesting is the last line in the article, that they will offer it in future Chevy applications...Camaro?

Looks like a direct result of the owners survey last year from GMPP. Glad to see GM come through with MRC updates. Would love to see a proper MRC lowering kit and optional MRC programming so those already lowered can get dialed in better.

I wish there was an option for us 1LE/ZL1 owners so that we could pick a more aggressive tuning as the one with Z07 package (compared to base MRC tuning). It would be a great way to unleash the true potential of the car when combined with more aggressive tire (such as G3 R or Cup 2s)

I read they're working on one for ZL1s at the drag strip, to allow more rear-end squat on launch. We've been talking about stuff like that for years!

No problem! I am interested in it, if it makes a significant difference, then $350 is worth it.

I know the DSC controller is expensive, but I do like the fact that it dynamically (every 6 ms) adjusts by using data coming across the CAM bus, such as acceleration, braking pressure, g-forces, damper velocity, travel range, speed, steering and some other factors I'm forgetting. It is a totally different animal than the GM BCM.

As for hole shots, there is a specific tab that lets you set a sliding stiffness adjustment for 0 to X speed; great for launch control.

I haven't begun to investigate all of the potential of this controller, but I'll have time in the future. It's not for everyone because of cost, but it will give you an edge.

Ed, if you or DSC could also figure out an ultra-touring template for daily driving with a method to adapt it for different spring rates (lowered cars), that could help drive some sales for DSC.

I totally agree the factory MRC controller is a little too predictive and isn't dynamic enough.

For lowered/different spring rates, it's a simple matter of just re-zeroing out the ride height calibration as per DSC's instructions, or not if you want to pre-load the shocks. I believe that even though most companies selling lowering springs state that there is no effect on the MRC system, there has to be some difference in the position sensor when lowered. However, I also think that for average driver, it doesn't make much difference whether the shocks are at static zero or not for the small travel change. When I did my re-zeroing, I could definitely see the extra weight of the supercharger on the front springs, but is was easily calibrated out. You can also re-zero the system with yourself in the driver's seat for a better left/right balance.

As for the ultra-touring, I've started playing with just taking out firmness in the tour mode across the tables, but honestly, the new calibration from DSC improved the tour mode ride and is pretty good as is. Honestly, I can just barely tell the difference, but the S.O. has commented on how much smoother the ride is now.

What's fun to play with is the auto fill feature. Just find the softer setting you like and the upper setting for firmness, and the program will auto-fill the table out for you.

Still have a lot to learn...
