it wouldnt be so bad if they would make something like an electric vette or make it an optional powertrain for the camaro without dropping the 8 cylinder.i dislike having something crammed down my throat with no alternative though.

You can't kill a camaro by going electric. The Camaro is obviously much more than just it's ICE. It's not even the body or it would have been dead when they killed the F-Body already.
All you need for the camaro is for it to be an affordable performance coupe that looks like a camaro. What's under the hood doesn't matter as long as you have a trim that goes fast. That's completely possible with electric. 0-60 times that are fast (like 4 seconds), sure, electric can do that. Good quarter mile times, sure electric can do that too. That's basically the only common traits between 1st gen and 6th gen. So cling to yesteryear's technology. You'll be breathing in the burnt rubber of your electric replacements with your hardon for exhaust notes while they're crushed into their seats beating you down the track (or to the next red light). I'll take going fast and all the benefits of an electric drivetrain over exhaust noise any day. |

Pretty sure we have a few more years.
Gen7 will likely be something new......assuming SUVs and CUVs and autonomous vehicles haven't killed our performance cars, lol.

I believe gen 7 will have a v8 option, but also an electric option which will be faster than the v8. Then gen 8 will be all electric. Its going to happen guys. Get your V8 while you can, its dying :(

1. Washington Post and tree huggers go together like pb&j.
2. Until electric cars can go 350-400 miles on a charge and get FULLY 100% charged in under 10 minutes they won’t sell mainstream. 3. To go along with that, you need ample charging stations on every corner like current gas stations. Until the American infrastructure can support that, and battery tech advances to that point, for a sticker under $30k WITHOUT tax assistance, the internal combustion engine’s demise is highly exaggerated. |

Zero emissions is a farce.
Electricity is produced in the US by burning jet fuel, diesel and coal or by splitting atoms. All of the above create emissions and/or waste to charge electric vehicles. I'm going to drive my Grandfather's Vette up the mountain this afternoon, and spiritedly burn up some dinosaurs and mastodons.

Tell any one of us that evacauted Irma and spent 11+ hours in 100 degree heat in stop and go traffic to switch to electric only plug in....
And we will laugh in your face. You cant put two Jerry cans full of electric in your Tesla's trunk. |

Camaro and Corvette will go hybrid. Another reason I bought my car and not some Tesla.
Gas saving will justify the price increase for hybrid technology. .
