MyLink NAV goes off course: SOLVED

I have searched around for this topic but did not find anything specific to my issue. I have a 50th anniversary 2SS Convertible and have been experiencing my nav going off course when going around bends or hard turns (i.e. traffic intersections) with or without the nav directing me to a destination. Has anyone with the factory nav experienced this? I have taken it in twice for this issue and the service department said it was because of the "3D UP" setting and put it to "2D North UP" of which I called BS and it still did the same thing. Now my svc advisor did want me to call him back if I still had the issue, so he'll be hearing from me tomorrow. My sales person offered me to take another convertible out to see if it was an issue local to my car or a bigger problem. Surprise, the other one was doing the same thing. She suggested a call to Chevy Customer Care to try to get a resolution. I am a troubleshooter so I tried to have OnStar navigate and it did so successfully. I used Waze through NAV screen and it too tracked perfectly. I wonder if the GPS antenna in the dash is bad. FWIW the loaner car I had today had NAV (a Malibu Hybrid) and I set it up like my 2SS and it worked perfectly. So now my question is because I did not take a Camaro coupe out if this is a convertible issue or just a Camaro issue. My apologies for the long post, but I wanted to give as much info to get the best answers.

Hmm. Haven't noticed it in the wife's vert. I can barely see the dang Nav screen with the top down, though. The screen being way too dim is my beef.

We're taking the vert tomorrow for some local jaunts, so I'll watch to see if the Nav strays around bends and/or sharp turns. We typically keep our Nav in 3D view and 1/4 mile setting.

My car did not originally come with Nav but I added the I06 factory nav module a few months back. I have had the same problems on occasion as you. Additionally, I have experienced loss of the audio commands and loss of the directional arrow in the small box on occasion. My antenna is located under the dash and not in the shark's tooth like yours. It appears that this is a I06 module problem. BTW I do not have a vert. According to the manual when the Nav is misbehaving, find a parking lot you can use for about 5 minutes, keep the car running and any problems should correct themselves. Also I have found through trial and error if you turn the car off and open the door for about 2-3 minutes, the problem is usually corrected. Needless to say, Mylink Nav is very finicky.

I have the same problem with a brand new 2018 Camaro RS

it goes off course and sometimes it recovers after full power cycle but yesterday it didn't - I was driving blind for about 100 miles. It's outrageous.
In general thuis mylink system is a shameful piece of crap.
I highly advise against paying for it as a feature

So my friends a solution has been reached with this problem. In short, the HMI was installed upside down. In essence the gyros were not aligned correctly and thus every move went against the expected, and made the map and car position go haywire. The tech simply reoriented the HMI to allow for the fan on the HMI to align in the slot correctly and presto! I used the NAV all the way home (about a 30 min drive with interstate and local roads) and not once did it go off course.

More background... after my first post I contacted Customer Care, who then put me in touch with Infotainment group who then opened a technical ticket and scheduled my car to return to my dealership. Today was the appointment day, (my schedule delayed this) and my GM Infotainment rep (BTW She is totally awesome) called me while I was at the dealer to let me know she was following this ticket through and that engineering was also involved. I got a loaner car, and she called me this afternoon with the news that the real culprit was discovered and that there is a search to see if there is a technical bulletin about this already out there. She is going to call me tomorrow to follow up and see if I am satisfied with the NAV operation, of which I am. My tech did note that the HMI does not have a top marking on it, but it was clear once removed that it was improperly oriented. The car hasn't been taken apart at all, this came from the factory this way. I will post more info after tomorrows call with the Infotainment Rep. I apologize once again for being long winded here, but I want to be a good member and share my experience in detail so that you can have a success story like me. I'm sure that if there isn't a bulletin already out there, it will be after my ticket closes.

I had my phone call today with my service department... they told me how they tested the HMI during a drive and the way you can tell if it is improperly mounted. There is a fan on the HMI and if it is not blowing down toward the foot well (but up into the dash) it is not mounted properly. For those who are "hands on" and your NAV is going everywhere but where the car is HMI is behind passenger kick panel.
