I just installed a new Whipple.

Whipple sent me a new supercharger rather than have me wait for mine to get fixed ( was probably the shaft coupling ). I used the sound deadening foam in the lifter valley this time. I trimmed the foam in a few spots but I'm not sure I even needed to. My new supercharger is nice and quiet and now I can't hear the injectors and pump. The intercoolers look identical to the old ones so I'm not sure if they've been updated as Brett was saying. I also installed a Mishimoto catch can while I was at it. I'm extremely pleased with the over the top customer service from Whipple. Now it's time to shred some tires.

Well, at least your moving forward. You should post about the issue though.
I have two chooses, Fix it myself or junk it and buy a Maggie or something else.
I sent it back for the wobbling shaft only to get it back with a ticking from excessive gear lash, it were fine before. They replace them "just in case".
Whipple states thats normal<< WTF. Install your SC and have my new car sound like it has 350,000 miles rattling and banging. (but it runs good)...LOL
Some of the SC'er owner probably don't know what they are suppose to sound like. (bad ears/hearing) I don't know.
Worst part, $60,000.00 invested, and I'm embarrass to drive it.

Brett, you must have one of the following:

1. The worst luck ever.
2. Your not properly installing the supercharger.

I've never seen anyone with the amount of issues you have had.

It's NO#1, A monkey could install one of these. No intake or coolant leaks, belt is fine. I have NEVER has this many problems or issues in 30 years of being a professional mechanic. And it's all just this car, everything else runs and works fine. And I'm not sending it back again. Fixing it is just more then there ability.
I'll take it apart this winter, unless it wastes my engine.

Sorry you're still having issues Brett. There are cars that are just lemons, I've owned a few and really hope you get yours sorted out.I only had the one little issue "gear noise" and Whipple took care of it perfectly. It may have run forever with the gear noise but I am very particular. You wouldn't believe how quiet it is now with foam in the lifter valley. I just installed the ACS carbon fiber splitter and side skirts and 1LE tail and brake lights. I love this car.

The install took me 30 hours taking my time and doing everything right. Swapping superchargers takes 2 hours for the removal and 2.5 for the install. Brett is right, anybody that can turn a wrench can install one.

sweet, I think it took me about the same when I did the Whipple on my Mustang. On the ZL1 I imagine it will be a pretty quick swap since its just the blower and intake manifold, no intercooler and plumbing and stuff.

Yeap. I'd guess three hours in the garage or four if your having some beers and listening to music. Gotta enjoy the mods as much as the driving.

Update ... I removed the supercharger to remove the foam valley insulator I thought was causing my vacuum leak. It was actually just an o-ring, your probably OK using the stock foam insulator. I ran the car just before removing the foam and it was dead quiet. Just after removing it, it had the familiar gear rattle. I'm wondering if the hpfp and injectors right under the SC with no insulation is chambered in a way it sounds like rattles? I'll reinstall the foam next time but I think there is something to it. I know you leave the foam with Edelbrock and part of the foam over the pump with Maggie. It seemed to fit fine with the foam with Whipple. Somebody else try this and tell me if it makes a difference.
