Angry Camaro Start Up Issue, My Chevy Dealer is Annoying!!!

So chevy had had my Camaro SS for the last 2 days and they still cannot find out what the issue is with my car. Ive showed them video and all. I texted one of my mechanic friends and he said ""Your starter is lacking power so it can be bad ground somewhere, bad battery, bad starter, or bad connection" and i relayed this message to chevy and they don't even want to check the starter so they offered to give me my car back and return it on Tuesday so they can take a further look at the car. here is the video if the start. IN THE FIRST SECOND YOU HEAR THE ISSUE BUT AT ONE POINT IT DID THAT 5 TIMES IN A ROW THEN CRUNK UP. What do you all think it is. I will be having a convo with the manager tmrw because this is the 4th time my car has been there fir the same issue and it has nit been fixed yet.other than this there are no other issues with my car. Have a good weekend Camaro family!

Your friend is correct: Starter, solenoid, wiring, or battery.

My ss does it occasionally also. Seems to happen when the car is facing uphill.

That's really weird. Makes me think it's a connector, that somehow just barely makes contact when the car is level or something.

18,000 miles now and happened to me only once during a very hot day. Never happened during cold start or a cold day. Heat issue?

I had this issue. It turned out to be one of the ground cables in the engine bay. Mine got so bad that it didnt start at all and I had to tow it.

had same issue. went to dealer and told me battery was bad and needed new starter aswell. there was also a burning plastic smell coming from the engine and that was the starter. if its not the battery nor starter then it most likely the alternator.

It's amazing how we can come to an agreement as the owners of these cars and the people they built them can't find the problem. This amazes me.

Yeah I park on an incline also. But I'm sure it is the starter or a bad connection.

Try a different dealer. The thing is, that until they have something they can really diagnose, something they can really point an finger at, there's not much they can do and get paid for it. I'm surprised that they didn't at least do a battery swap (maybe they did) as that is something that they pretty much do without GM putting up a fight, it's like a 'give me' in terms of warranty. Mostly because batteries are such common casualties on dealer's lots.

You didn't say if the dealer was able to replicate the problem when they had it, so that may be another factor. Sometimes when a customer describes and issue, things get lost in transition. Take that vid with you when you go in next time. Ask for the diagnostic report, just to see what it was that they checked.

But intermittent problems are the worst. It's obviously an electrical problem, but where? It could be any one of the things listed in this thread, all of these things listed in this thread, and maybe something not listed in this thread. It's not like the old days where you had a couple of wires that went from the ignition to the starter.

It's unfortunate, but these days, when there is an intermittent issue like this, dealers will shrug their shoulders and give you car back and wait for the system, which ever it might be, to completely fail. Until then all they can do is guess, like we're doing here, and throw parts at it, which is never a good economic plan.

Thanks a lot, they couldn't get it to happen. Which is annoying. I'm going to pick up the car today and I will ask for that diagnostics report .
