This will buff out...right?

Well the unthinkable happened today. First accident, not at fault. The women blew through a red and I t-boned her going about 15-20kph from an intersection. The light had just turned green for me and by the time I was half way through the intersection I noticed her in my peripheral and it was too late.

The accident occurred while I'm spending two weeks vacation visiting family back in the GTA and I don't think the car will be repaired when it comes to an end and i have to drive back home about 250km. Which means I have to come back here when its fixed (if its not a write off) to pick it up.

Most of the damage is on the front, the drivers side door also gets a bit stuck once its half way open. The repair center suspects the impact shifted the frame and is causing the door problem.

If anyone remembers from a previous post, I put in a factory order for a new Corvette about 2 weeks ago that is supposed to arrive in the spring with the plan on selling or trading in the Camaro. Well now I get to contemplate how much depreciation my car is going to get with an accident on record for the trade in, assuming it is not written off. This is what really annoys me, I don't care that the car was damaged, I care that this will affect my plans for trading up in the next 8 months.

The response crew and witnesses all said I was taking the entire situation very calmly considering my 1 year old shiny sports car just got wrecked and stated they probably would have acted differently if they were in my shoes.

I don't know which would be better, a write off or using the car as a trade in to reduce the tax on the Corvette even with an accident on record. I think I'm leaning towards hoping for a write off though.

Sorry this happened, threads like this really kinda make me sick. Judging from the pic, it looks like you may have repairable damage. A lot will depend on engine, suspension and possible frame damage you have to be totaled. Good luck with the repair, glad to hear you were okay.

Glad you're safe. Hopefully you will get a write-off. Hope you had gap ins just in case your camaro isn't as appreciated as much as we appreciate them.

Glad to hear you're ok.

In America, if the insurance company does not total your car after an accident you can request additional diminished value funds from them. Sometimes you have to press for it but from what I've heard if you ask most will give you something. Not sure how it works in Canada but you could try that.

But I hope they total it for you. A bent sub frame/unit body will never be the same. Won't feel right, won't ride right, and you'll always have annoying shakes and rattles. The car will never be as laser straight and tight as it came from the factory.

Damn that sucks. Cant tell you how many people run lights here in SD. I always have to look both directions before moving when a light turns green. Insurance will take care of you, but your cars resale value will take a hit.

Canada is sadly a bit different from the states, we are behind in various automotive laws, including lemons. It is extremely difficult to try and get a diminished value claim which I think is absurd, especially in an accident like this where its not your fault but tough luck you lose 20% of your value anyway.

This is why I'm hoping for a write off depending on the frame damage but all I can do is wait.

Sorry about that man. What vette did you buy? I've been drooling over the new corvette, but sadly am not at the point to where I can afford one. Also, I wouldnt call a vette an upgrade. The new SS Camaro is a beast and can keep up with it with ease. Its really a style change than performance one.

Luckily I took a policy that grants me brand new OEM parts. No salvage scrap for me.

I am upgrading to a Grand Sport. I'd still call it an upgrade since I'm going from a V6 to a V8, if it was the SS to a Stingray/Grand Sport I could see how you could perceive it as more of a sidegrade since the performance is so close.
