Thumbs up Gen 7 Camaro Wish List

I love my Gen 6 Camaro. But I also know that I expect my next Camaro to have some additional features. This is not meant to be a knock-on the Gen 6, but more of a let's go from a great car to an outstanding one in the Gen 7.

Post your Gen 7 wish list items. Who knows, some may sneak into later Gen 6 models. Here are mine:

I went to update the list again, and I can see it would just become too long, depriving people of some of the juicy comments in the thread. So I'll leave the list where it is and you can enjoy all of the follow on suggestions. Thank you all!!!! Keep posting.

  • HUD - yes I want more HUD options
  • XM full view on the dash
  • More configurations of the LED dash displays
  • More Storage (any usable storage? OK, stay positive)
  • Stuff holders - for the misc stuff in life.
  • Replace the plastic slide covers on convertibles - don't lean on the car or it WILL break.
  • Trunk light in the small trunk portion on convertibles - who though it a good idea to put the trunk light BEHIND the partition?
  • A realistic phone charger size - phones got a lot bigger people...
  • Front bumper sensors - the first damage to my car was by the delivering dealer...I'm just saying...
  • Side mirror tilt down in reverse - (accessible from settings menu - who knew?)
  • Mileage - show it on multiple screens. I have to write that stuff down for the IRS ya' know.
  • Fully digital dash screen with configurable analog and digital read outs.
  • An apps button - then give us some more apps...like Pandora?
  • Make it easy to decouple cellular data from OnStar. I know it is a money maker (for now). For that matter, the car should easily connect to any wireless carrier. We will pay the add on device charge for the car, but we are not going to come in droves to an over-priced OnStar plan.
  • Shields up - toggle switch that auto raises the windows when the top is put up on a convertible
  • LED Review mirror - steal it from Cadillac
  • The 8" display size is good. 10" would be better.
  • Silence the visibility critics. Add these two features as standard:
  • - Rear Park Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • - Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert

Other submissions added:
  • Blinkers back into that HUD like my 5th gen.
  • Ability to update the software ourselves or OTA.
  • Better external media support
  • Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto
  • Front Camera like C7 for curbs
  • PDR option on all trims
  • Foldable mirrors when locking the car
  • Recaro seats 8x electrical adjustable with memory
  • Dust free brake pads
  • more functions in the HUD
  • A10 double clutch system (like Porsche)
  • Camaro specific engines that aren't dictated by what Corvette wants
  • Front camera definitely ! + front alert
  • Side cameras with alert blind zone
  • IR camera with projection in the HUD we could see danger at night....
  • Front lights turning with the steering (certain angle)
  • More USB, at least one on the dashboard
  • A little bit more room available for the back seats
  • (Like Gen5 for example...)
  • AC or ventilated glove box
  • 5 points harness with sport seat on the ZL1 (like GT instead of recaro) in option
  • Clear top (not sunroof) with curtain to mask and leds for ambiance
  • Smaller steering wheel sport design
  • plugin electric w/ a big battery in the middle...800HP and 1000TQ
  • reduce the overall weight of the vehicle further (another 200 lbs would be ideal on V8 models)
  • more interior storage (the door panels could be redesigned with cup holders/storage bin and it would fix A LOT of the problem)
  • lower the belt line for more visibility out of the car (it doesn't bother me, but apparently it's a thing i've read about)
  • better stereo system than the Bose with more lowend
  • Carplay in the HUD
  • OTA updates with more app options from the store
  • maintain the 6769 styling as your basis for styling
  • more headroom
  • add a leather dash/door panel option like Porsche offers
  • auto rain sensing wipers
  • front collision detection/auto cruise control
  • Give us everything - bust still cost less than a Vette (OK - I will probably not do more copying of cost posts - but wanted a flavor in here)
  • Blind spot mirrors built into the side mirrors
  • Somewhere to put my phone (I know there are duplicates but hey, some stuff is worth repeating!)
  • Sunroof that opens fully. Current one leaves 4 inches or so of glass over the opening still.
  • Firmer (thinner) backseats, and a thinner back on the front seats without compromising comfort or safety. Slight tweaks in addition to what I just mentioned in order to get the backseats to being functional for individuals up to 6'2", sitting normally without bending the neck. Same with legroom (not as important): squeeze a couple inches more, and you go from terrible to usable.
  • Option and space design in trunk to keep a spare tire. As things stand, if you want s spare tire you'd take up the entire trunk. Even if the trunk were optionally slightly more shallow with optimized use of space underneath the floor of the trunk for the spare tire, that'd be great.
  • Seats that recline further back. Can't nap in the car, any other car manages this fine. Backseats aren't in the way, it just stops.
  • No more OnStar lights on the mirror. If anyone knows how to disable them, but keep microphone and stuff working, please let me know.
  • Slightly higher quality materials for the steering wheel. I'd like a slightly (very slight) more grip, and better leather/leatherette material than what is used right now.
  • Higher quality buttons on the steering wheel. They feel like they will break in five years, and aren't impressive to the touch. Not difficult to do.
  • Better paddle shifters on automatics. I find they could be just a bit bigger (extend higher) by maybe a quarter inch. And the shifters could feel like they have more weight to them... a bit more resistance, just a bit. The click is fine, but the feel is plasticky.
  • Slight change to gas pedal feel. I'd like a bit more upfront. I know the first bit of pressing the wheel is meant to control less throttle so it's easier to be gas efficient, but I feel like it could be improved just a touch.
  • Sunroof doesn't close with one deep click, only opens with one deep click. I have to hold down the close button. Easy fix?
  • Gearing down with tiptronic, using the knob, feels mushy (the control itself). Gearing up feels good, has a meaty click to it similar in a way to manual. Why gearing up is nice, but they made gearing down feel mushy, is beyond me. Make gearing up/down using the shifter knob feel premium.
  • Option for sensors on all models, with front sensor for parking standard.
  • More arm rest storage space in the middle of the car. Don't know if this is possible, seems like there's a fair bit of wasted space. Same with glove compartment being a bit shallow.
  • User 1/2 memory standard on all vehicles. This shouldn't be reserved for higher trims, it's a gimme feature that should be there. Same with exit assist (although I don't know if exit assist requires more expensive seat mechanics, since every time you get out your seat would move; a cheap seat motor might break down faster).
  • A touch more torque (low end) for the V6 model.
  • Engine stop/start tech (optional center console setting), if it's doable, for daily driving.
  • My next car (I just got this one so that's in a while), has to have crash prevention tech. In ten years that should be standard, if it isn't already required by law. Lane switching, rear bumper, front bumper, etc. I want others to have it more than myself though, hahaha.
  • OP NOTE - I was asked why my new Camaro did not have Adaptive Cruise Control. I said "It would never be used.". Why? "Camaro's never follow anyone. We only lead."
  • Any kind of tech that can alert me if my car has been bumped, the handle was pulled, gas cap opened, window shocked, etc. If I'm in a restaurant and something happens I'd like to know. If someone is loading my car into a freight truck, I'd like a chance to call for help.
  • Foldable side mirrors, that have a bit better feel to the touch. Current ones I swear are hollow and would break if anyone in a parking lot thinks it folds and just applied a little pressure.
  • Locking gas cap, like almost every other car out there. Also, possibly smaller gas door, it's a bit large on the Camaro.
  • Better tech for setting up the car. I'd like a menu that lets me set specific temperature and fan strength, before I get in the car. Currently I think fans basically default to what you exited he car with last, if you remote start (except for defogging).
  • Slightly more adjustable butt angle on seats, and an adjustable head rest (current one cannot tilt!!!!)
  • A bit more use of metal where plastic was used on the interior. I don't mind a 300 dollar price hike for them to use brushed or reflective metal on some accents and such.
  • Better trip A trip B setup. Currently, if I reset trip B, trip A continues to tick. What I do is I reset trip A when I fill up gas, and I reset trip B when I want to keep track of my current drive. Then at the next fill-up, I can see trip A for my fuel economy, but I could still use trip B day to day. With this setup in mind, I can't keep tabs on say... trip C, the round trip on something. I'd just like to see smarter options for those apps. The G force app doesn't seem to be responsive or accurate enough
  • Skynet countermeasures - inspired by post #23

I can tell this post is therapeutic for some...

Connectivity to Cortana, Alexa, or Siri would be enough. Adamantium would be more cost-effective. But good suggestions.

  • Mileage - show it on multiple screens. I have to write that stuff down for the IRS ya' know.
  • Fully digital dash screen with configurable analog and digital read outs.

I agree with this list.

My side mirrors tilt down when I put mine in reverse. Was a setting I toggled in Vehicle Settings on radio screen.

Add to your list...
- Blinkers back into that HUD like my 5th gen.
- Ability to update the software ourselves or OTA.
- Better external media support
- Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto
- Front Camera like C7 for curbs
- PDR option on all trims

Well, the Eezo would get us negative time 1/4mi and I figure that's plenty fast for a street car.. Sure, it would violate causality and allow us to watch our own race without having previously seen ourselves arrive before we left, but hey, who wants to live forever.

And, Cortana is cool.. But, I'm a fan of EDI

New design with a bit better visibility. 500 hp and a ten speed auto. Only way I would trade up

A belt line that isn't 2/3s up the side of the car.

Camaro specific engines that aren't dictated by what Corvette wants.

I want a plug-in electric car to compete with the Tesla Model S performance numbers. One electric motor on each wheel and a big battery in the middle...800HP and 1000TQ! Oh yea, and all while being nice to the planet...can't beat that. I would miss the V8 rumble though. Battery technology needs to get cheaper and more efficient first though I suppose. Lots of cool new battery tech on the horizon however!
