Lesson 103 - "Troubleshooting a Connection Error"

We're back with another episode of the DSC Sport Tuning Academy! In Lesson 103, we walk you through how to troubleshoot a connection error.

Particularly on initial installation, some users experience difficulty establishing communication with the DSC Sport Tuning Software. This is usually due to a mismatch between the COM Port your computer is using for the CP210x USB driver and the COM Port the DSC Sport Tuning Software is looking for. In this lesson, we walk you through how to match your computer's COM Port settings to that of the Tuning Software. Reminder: Always close out of the Tuning Software and disconnect and reconnect the DSC Sport controller after making any COM Port changes!

Just ordered this controller. Great first conversation with them and they convinced me to try their controller out first with a stiffer set of sway bars before jumping in with the full blown GM 1LE kit for my SS.

I've read until my eyes bled on this unit and I believe this controller will allow me a wider range of control of my suspension to meet my personal driving style and goals. On the touring end, I'm hoping to get a more compliant ride so that when I pick up a few cases of wine, they don't get jostled as much and bruise the grape. We're pretty well connected to the wine industry here in eastern Washington and taking out the Camaro for wine events is one of our favorite pastimes.

On the other end of the spectrum, I'm hoping I'll be able to dial in the front end to compensate somewhat for the extra weight of the supercharger up front and maybe bypass the stiffer 1LE springs altogether. Along with this goal, I also want to improve the overall handling and give it a go at a track day event or two.

I'll come back here with my impressions of this controller as I gather them.

I spent way too much time in the Corvette forum researching this controller.

A huge thread is here:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ervations.html

And there are several other threads in the Corvette forum as well.

I decided to start my suspension improvements first with this controller, even though my first impressions was it's just too expensive.

Thanks for the link, and I just looked at the price...unless I was a track rat I can't see me buying this just for spirited driving on public roads. Don't get me wrong, if it was given to me or not as expensive I'd be all over it. I don't want to put the product down, it looks awesome!

Edit: the more I think about it, the more I'm loving the idea of this. I'm going to put it on my things to buy list, just going to have to be toward the bottom of the list, but ...still on the list!

Everybody has their own budget, but something to keep in mind on price point is that the DSC controller is far less than the cost of a set of mid-range strut or coilover replacements and this is what you get with it...
  • Comparable (at least, arguably far better) performance as a mid-range coilover
  • Incredibly easy to install yourself (not so true for strut/coilover upgrades) so no added labor cost (and easy to remove if ever necessary)
  • It's a non-wearable item, so it retains its value if you ever want to sell (I would encourage you to see what used DSCs go for in Porsche and Corvette forums)
  • You'll see improvements in both performance and comfort, so it's in many ways like having multiple suspension setups all at the touch of a button (or turn of the wheel )
  • The ability to tune the dampers with comfort, ease, and little suspension tuning knowledge
  • FULL tuning support, free of charge, provided by DSC Sport
