New Cammed & Supercharged SS Questions

Looking for advice on a 2016 SS with mods that I'm about to purchase.
Car has 1900km
Magnusson Supercharger
Lingenfelter cam (not sure of specs)
Looks long tube headers

Test drove it and it was fine. But when I drove it home rpms would surge
Coming to a stop. It will surge from 1800rpm down to almost zero before idle would stabilize at 750ish. Every third time coming to a stop it would completely stall?? Also the exhaust smell in the car is almost unbearable. And tail pipes are completely black?
So I took it straight back to the dealer and told them the deal is off if they don't have it running perfectly. I am assuming all it needs is a tune and it will be fine. Please let me know what you think. I'm unfamiliar with these mods on a car.

The smell is most likely caused by the removal of the CATS. Lopy cams sound good, but drivability suffers.

Everything that you mentioned is completely normal except for the RPM surge. The smell and car dying and black tailpipes are all normal with headers and a Cam.

Car dying is normal?? That's annoying! I can live with the exhaust smell and the black tail pipes. But the stalling is a no go

Yeah guy basically bought it, did a bunch of mods then traded it for a cts-v.
Researched the shop doing the mods and found nothing but good reviews.

The car dying is not normal... It may need some tuning

I wouldn't say "normal" but with a very aggressive cam, it will happen from time to time. Like the others say, some tuning can fix that, not a huge cause for concern if you really like the car.

Stalling once in a blue moon would be liveable.
But when I drove it home it was stalling at every other
Stop light. Plus from what I understand the cam was not too aggressive

I would definitely walk. I've gone through this nightmare before with another car and ended up getting burned pretty hard with a blown engine. It's not worth it, especially with the car stalling at every other stop light. You never truly know what you're getting by buying a modded used car. You already see the red flags so just walk away from this car.

It's also better to buy a used modded car from the original owner and not from a dealership. You never know what the dealership is hiding. If you really want to buy this car from the dealership I would get your own mechanic to do a compression check on the motor and any other suitable inspection that he can do.

Yes I really want this car. But I'm going to find the best performance shop I can and have them give it a thorough inspection.

ok ya that's not right.... If you REALLY like the car, take a tuner to go test drive it and offer them business to tune it if you buy it.
