Anyone know what this button is for?
Hi all
Just picked up my white 2017 2ss a few days ago and was wondering if anyone knows what this button is for? Looks like some thing the dealer added. Thanks |

Idk but I would ask for it to be removed. Do you have credit issues, might be so the repo guy could find you. Joking, but no seriously.

No credit issues lol. The car was on the show room so it may be some security device. Sucks that they drilled it into the plastic.

I finally found a similar pic apparently it is an add on alarm from a company called karr. I have no idea how to tell if it is active.

My wife's company car (Nissan Rogue) had one of those installed from the dealership in San Diego. Many dealers install them on ALL cars before they hit the lot. Just a sham for them to make more profit. I would be LIVID if they didn't fully disclose that, and shown you where they drilled into your new car BEFORE purchase.

Yeah, somebody posted a picture of an identical unit hidden under his dash. It's a Karr alarm. I think he went back to the dealership and complained for modifying his car before purchase.
http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9093037 On a side note: The original pics are currently gone because the Photobucket image hosting service is now running ads for all images linked remotely, which they are getting a lot of crap for, but trust me. Back when the photos were still there, it was identical to what you just snapped pictures of. Article on another site with pics of the Karr system and the tangled mess that is its wiring system. It's a bottom shelf alarm system. Total piece of junk. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/201...rm-dealership/ I would complain. At very least, ask to get it removed and replace anything they had to drill into for the install. Teach them a lesson by having them spend more money to fix it than it was worth to them in the first place.

Yep. It's an alarm. Our Durango has the same thing. Some dealerships put them on. If you don't buy their alarm they don't "activate" it.
Kind of a shitty practice. |

What's funny is this would be seen as a potential reason to deny warranty work if you ended up needing any done on whatever that is spliced into. Just like they would try to do if you were splicing wires yourself.
I'd be pissed if I found that after buying. It's completely unnecessary |

I'd be PISSED!!!! Take it back, tell them to remove the ENTIRE Karr alarm system, and replace your dash panel with a brand new one with no screw holes.
If they give you crap about it tell them you'll give them all zeroes on their survey if they don't. Then give them all zeroes on their survey if they don't. |

Double check your paperwork... to make sure you didn't pay to have that thing installed.

Funny part is that they didn't even try to sell the activation to me. They had a ton of showroom "upgrades" that I refused to pay for. I am going to see if I can get them to remove it. Only problem is that with it there it is obvious why the wiring was modified and these things are pretty much a dealer only add on. If I ever had a warranty issue that may provide the evidence to hold the dealer accountable.

This karr unit is not so much as a profit item for the dealer, or a feature for the customer, rather a tool that dealers used to keep track of inventory on the lot. Most dealers of any size store new car inventory on three or four local lots, like the cars you see near the airport. The karr system does do a locate.
