1,500 mile maintenance, loud "clunk" noise, and turning "clicking" noise
10 miles from end of break in period, and I'm very excited to say the least. This car is a monster even below 4K RPM, can't wait to see above.
Few questions... What exactly should I be doing at 1,500 miles? Just an oil change for A10? Have seen some conflicting posts. Now, the less exciting part. I'm having 2 issues with my 2017 ZL1 A10. 1) Loud clunking noise. The first time I heard it I thought someone dropped a 10lb dumbbell on my car from an overpass. It's not reproducible, happens perhaps every other time I drive, or 2/3. Might be 15 seconds after I turn the car on, or after 30 minutes of driving when I come to a stop. I can't even tell if it's coming from the back or the front, but it's a loud deep "clunk". I'm particularly concerned about this one as I won't be able to reproduce it for a technician (unlike the following problem) so it will be hard to explain... Is there anything I should have them check out specifically? 2) Just started yesterday. When turning right at >30mph there's a distinct "click click click click" that sounds like it's coming from the front left wheel or suspension, with faster clicking at higher speeds. Doesn't happen moving straight, or when turning left. I've checked the tire thoroughly for a bolt or something in there, but it's clean. Thanks for the tips! |

Welcome to the club...you likely need to have your front sway bar end link nuts torqued correctly.
Mine did it at around 2200 miles...think there is a bulletin on it. Mine could be heard rather consistently going over bumps at low to moderate speeds. |

As for the clunking...... I took mine in for the sway bar, took 20 minutes for the fix. But total I waited 67.1745 minutes approximately and fixed. Nice and tight. Mine was not very bad at all though, but the left side was barely loose.

I'm not sure if I heard it on mine yet, hopefully I never do. But, I'll continue to listen is it like an alarming ''clunking'' noise?

So to be clear for the masses, the "clunk" is from the sway bar issue, and the "click click click" is from the brake issue? Or is everything sway bar related? For me, I click but no clunk.

Well, all be damned. Yet more people with left front clicking when turning right...at any speed. Ditto here. Mine started doing it to oh, I guess it was around 3,000 miles. I've been meaning to take the car in to the service department to check it out and fixed because, frankly, it sounds a bit embarrassing. Met a ZL1 owner at CamaroFest. His doing the same that ironically began around the same mileage. I told him I believed a characteristic of having 2-piece rotors based upon Internet research. Thanks to this topic, now the real cause is known and, better yet, that Chevrolet already knows about it. Thanks for the thread!
